You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Here's a question:

-picked up 13 pro max and when I purchased online the line I used is my wife's line and she's traveling out of the country. They didn't activate the phone yet because I told them not to. So if I turn it on is it gonna automatically tie to that line and render the phone she has with her useless? Or can I simply put in a different sim from another one of my current T-Mobile lines ?

Once you get the phone you can swap lines with whatever sim you want. Or not assign it to a line at all. This is how people do this deal multiple times with one line.

Technically if they didn't activate in store you could even put a different carrier sim in the phone and I think it would automatically lock to whatever carrier it is

Has anyone bought a phone for in store pick-up at a location that was not the closest location to you, and then see stock at a closer location? Did you just cancel the original purchase, and purchase the phone at the closer location? I'm assuming it won't allow me to get another one until I cancel the original.

Just ordered one online for my wife. I chose to port in the number to T-Mobile. Provided all the old account number & pin. But at check out, the T-Mobile order summary gave me a brand new phone number instead -- is this normal? Or does that mean the porting failed?

You will always get assigned a temporary number so you can still use your existing number until you're ready to fully port.
