You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

You need to pay off the phone first, in order to move the credits to the account level (rather than line level).

You don't have to pay off the phone before trading it in. This deal and upgrade is all through Best Buy. Has nothing to do with T-Mobile. Just hand in your 12 pro Max to Best Buy during pickup. Tell the rep they can open the box of the new phone if they want to avoid returns and force restocking fees but don't let Best Buy activate the new SIM card let them scan the card to process the order but tell them you will activate yourself at home later on the my orders Best Buy website. When you get home just call T-Mobile to change to the new sim provided by Best Buy. T-Mobile is not involved in this upgrade whatsoever if you follow these steps.

What are you talking about? He/she doesn't have to pay off the phone to continued to get the credit and to do this BB deal.

The only time you pay it off it you wanted to get your phone unlocked it sooner, then the credits will move to the account level rather than line level like you said.

TM doesn't care what you do with the phone as long your line is active. I had traded in 2-12P for 2-13PM under this deal and both phones are still under EIP and still getting monthly credits ever since. Nothing has changed on my account instead of showing my 2-13PM being used. The 12P still being show under EIP, how many months left, how much TM bills me each month and how much the credits are being applied.

So please don't provide any misinformation!

anyone know if I could just buy a 13mini with 1month postpaid, cancel the account after the month and use the phone on tmobile prepaid with my current sim? i was going to also trade in a 12mini.

Yeah, I edited my post. The credit will stay as long as the line is active (till the old phone is paid off).

Or it has to be unlocked?
The online trade in does not even list Tmobile version for Samsung S20FE.

Is this still the best deal for folks on grandfathered Tmobile plans who do not want to change their plan ? Seems like this is the only deal giving me instant discount for my iPhone 7 trade in rather than the Black Friday deals on t mobile which gives me the 200$ credit over 24 months ?

I ordered mine on November 10 and it said the pick up date was December 10. I just got the notification it was ready for store pick up last night. I ordered a blue 13 Pro

In my experience, if you go into a corporate Tmobile store (not a franchisee) and check on deals that don't require you to change plans, they often have nice options. That said, we live 15 minutes from their HQ and the level of service/expertise varies from store to store.
