You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

Was it fully unlocked ? I thought you had to be with ATT for 60 days before it can be unlocked ?
No need to be a customer for the ATT trick. I got home from buying 2 13'a and started them up with an inactive ATT SIM card. I requested the unlocks, clicked the link in the email to confirm and it was unlocked in 50 seconds.

The guy at BestBuy charged me $10 for a T-mobile sim card when I did trade in today. He insisted he couldn't continue without selling me this sim card. I plan to do another trade in next week. Any thing I can do or say to avoid wasting $10 on a useless sim card?
One of the order I did was charged $10, though the guy was fast to finish my order, so I just said to myself it is fine. Personally, I would like to save that $10, But a $10 SIM charge for this kind of ( $1k phone) deal done without frustration is worth more in my book.

If you got a T-mo phone from BB and the sim card has not been inserted, it means that the first sim card you put in it will lock it to the phone. These are flex phones. The ATT trick is that you insert the ATT sim card into it and then go to the ATT portal to request an unlock. Trust me and all the others, it's works and its quick. Under 2 minutes and you have an unlocked phone.

where to get a att sim card? I'm not a att user.

Exactly. $10 for a sim is the least of our worries. We just want the orders to go through successfully

I need some help please!!

I forget and inserted the Verizon sim

It is locked on the Verizon sim.

How do I unlock the phone???
Ask Verizon as the phone is now locked to them. Though Verizon should normally auto unlock after 60 days when paid in full.

I'm long time T-mobile user. I only did upgrade wo adding a line. I want to use the same number for upgrading because my other T-mobile numbers all have ongoing installment plan and I don't want to mess up with it.
This doesn't matter. I upgraded 6 phones on lines that have active EIP. I even traded in 2 iPhone 12 minis still on EIP and with promo credits. No problem as the Best Buy phones are paid in full and no additional EIP will be opened.

My local Best Buy demanded fingerprints and pretended they are legally required for a trade in. Of course, I refused. Here is the relevant language from the Best Buy site:
Quote from BestBuy :
Why do you collect personal information and what do you do with it? [bestbuy.com]
The Best Buy Trade-In Program is subject to state and local secondhand dealer laws, which regulate the buying of used personal property. Many of these laws require businesses to collect information about the seller and the purchased product, and report it to law enforcement in an effort to reduce crime and recover stolen property. In some locations, to comply with applicable law, the personal information collected may include:
  • Copy of your ID
  • Second form of ID
  • Fingerprint
  • Photograph of you
Now I need to find another good trade-in deal for my two 12 Minis from Walmart. My local T-Mobile store never heard of a fingerprint requirement, but their trade-in deals were garbage.

You can buy an h20 sim instead of an att sim at best buy for $1. Already done it over 20 times. It locks to att postpaid and can request unlock immediately

did you give them your t-mobile account info? I am trying to unlock without attaching to my t-mobile account.. I have heard that there is 2 unlock limit per year, but not sure how strongly they enforce it.
I have been with T-Mobile for 5 years. In the last 12 months I probably let them unlock 10 phones due to upgrades. This includes brand new iPhones on EIP and with promo credits. One time they asked me to wait 1 billing cycle after a new EIP which I was fine with. I have international SIM cards I need to use in those phones.

All depends on your county laws. GameStop has the same thing depending on counties. Look for another Best Buy, they may not require it
