You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

if i go with device payment plan, does it put me under contract for 30 months? Does it give me option to pay the balance and port out to different carrier?

Yes, it was with AT&T. I'm a postpaid customer so in my case I SIM swapped from my old iPhone into the 13 Mini and then submitted the request.

(Edit) It sounds like you might have messed up if you also contacted T-Mobile. How it is supposed to work is whatever SIM card you put into the phone when you first turned it on, the phone would then become locked to that carrier. So if you inserted the AT&T prepaid SIM card and then turned the phone on it would be locked to AT&T.
right! i've tried with my t-mobile SIM and it didn't work, so probably locked to ATT. I was a headless chicken ! was trying to speed up the process so I can gift to my brother who is traveling overseas. mobile rep told me to insert another carrier SIM and restore the phone , may be I didn't wait long enough !

what's up with ATT "24 hr wait period error". is this ever going to pass? if this doesn't work I may have to exchange phone and restart the process. any other ideas? can apple store help with this situation?

Did you just put in the SIM, or go through the Apple activation step? If you never went through Apple activation step, your phone is still in FLEX policy and not locked. If you already activated it, it will be locked to the SIM which it was activated on.
If you activated the phone with ATT SIM, just retry the process after couple of hours. It may take some time for their system to pick up the new device.

Can you please explain what is " true account-level "upgrade" privilege does NOT get burned by this $200 TMo incentive". Looks like it is not possible to double dip with TM bill credits here. TM has $800 off (bill credits) offer with the upgrade and trade in. But their trade in values significantly less.
I manage accounts for my extended family. When this promo started there were two accounts open - for my Mom and my wife. I have since opened a third account under my name.

With all the accounts I can see an "eligible for upgrade" notice as I navigate the TMo website. Fulfilling orders by way of the Best Buy promo has never caused a change on any TMo number - all still say "eligible for upgrade."

You TMo rate really sucks at $120 for a single line. All plans that opened were under the more favorable terms reserved for age 55 and older. The most expensive is my MAX plan at two for $90.

If you can get bill credits that's great - I'm not sure how to combine this deal with bill credits.

Thanks for the information. It is the same amount (after trade in credit) to pay at the end of the day. I want to see if i can get any bill credits by staying with TM. Otherwise, i can always pay up, unlock and move on to other carriers with byod.

Thanks,

Thanks for the information. Employer is reimbursing for the plan. I am not checking for cheaper plans as we are getting free Netflix. I want to try with TM and see if they consider bill credit considering i am paying $120 for single line. LMAO That is the reason i want to go with EIP and give it a try. If it doesn't work, i can pay up EIP, get it unlocked and move on to any byod deals.

Thanks

only placed ATT SIM in slot and didn't complete the activation yet! it is a prepaid sim and no funds loaded. weird getting "sim not supported" error with both ATT as well as Tmobile SIMs. someone locked it and don't know who!
I think it is time to visit apple store (none of best buy stores have any phones available now for an exchange)!!

Your story is interesting. When you go to Settings -> general -> About -> Carrier Lock -> what do you see here?

Hey guys.I have issues with Att unlock submit.I got 2 iPhones for my friend who use Cricket currently so I activated first phone with Att sim and requested unlock and it's been a week and it's still processing…also I got email said that unlock were canceled because I haven't confirmed the email which I did because when I check a status it's says Progressing. With second IPhone I got for my friend I just activated with my old Att SIM card and he submitted unlock him self later same day but in this situation he haven't clicked to confirm the unlock on the email and now it's says Pending for few days already. With first IPhone I have been trying to submit request again and system not allowing me to because it's says there is request processing similar with second one.I don't know what to do at this point.

I don't think you can get bill credit from TM if you do this trade-in deal through BB. TM bill credit deal only works for the phone purchased from TM or Apple. That's my understanding.
Regarding the balance, it will be same for both full payment and monthly payment options.

Interesting, did BB activate your phone when you picked up it? If so, it should be locked to TM (BB might already integrate with TM system to activate the phone on their network). If not (sealed box), you'd better to go back to BB and ask for replacement or ask BB to work with Apple on it. As my experience, Apple will not deal with your unlock request directly and it has to come from carrier (for this case, BB can figure out the carrier).

you are right. Just want to try and see. I want to delay the payment anyway to meet new CC requirements. Are there any CB offers for paying up with BB. Freedom card gives 5% cb if paid using paypal.

If I'm not mistaken, BB will say "we are just the phone reseller". They will ask him to bring to phone to Apple for further checking. Apple may have the ability to find out what carrier the phone locked to or belonged to but they cannot do any unlock service.
This is what I'm afraid it will happen.
