You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

Good luck!

Yeah so was my friend signed up for that and couldn't do upgrades till he downgraded. You can try it might be different
Thanks. The phone is for my daughter, and realized she's eligible for a Tmobile First Responder plan ($25/mth). Hopefully she can swap that plan in at activation.

On second read, the BB website says the tradein is eligible for both upgrades and new lines. So maybe no longer need to upgrade?

Could you test it with an inactive sim if you have one?
I have an old unactivated prepaid Att sim card but if I insert it would Att lock the 13 to prepaid until I meet the unlock requirements?

Apple servers would briefly lock the phone to ATT as the "carrier" until you follow the steps as a non-ATT customer on the ATT unlock portal. The phone has no subsidy from ATT prepaid so there are no unlock "requirements."

I put in a very old, never-activated prepaid SIM intended for a Moto E5 and I was unlocked in three minutes using the ATT portal.

Ok I guess I can try it with an old unactivated Att prepaid sim from a iohone 6s from Target.

Another question, anyone knows what happens if the new T-Mobile Sim card that comes with the 13 if it's not activated?

So Att will not require 6 months of prepaid service if I insert it to the 13 right?

Edit
6 months of service to unlock?

I popped in the ATT card and allowed iPhone "activation" on the Apple servers - then went to ATT unlock portal and said "I am NOT ATT customer please unlock iPhone 13 IMEI." Many had immediate success. A few are complaining that they had to wait a certain number of hours. Not sure if they did what I did and you are planning to do - put in a never-activated ATT Prepaid SIM to make Apple think ATT is the carrier for a few minutes.

Read the posts and decide if you will take your chances. I had no risk as I was playing around with a spare iPhone I bought with all my recent savings.

Reporting back: My phone got unlocked 2 days after chatting with T-force via twitter. It seems that twitter is the one that should be reached to. I've tried T-mobile.com online chat, T-mobile app chat and T-mobile facebook, and they were all stick to 40-day unlock policy.

I did OK with both Facebook and Twitter. I did not try 611 or any app chat. I was told the last of my unlock requests will be effective no later than Monday - submitted via Twitter late Friday night - farmed out to whatever third party handles their Best Buy "paid in full" transactions.

It depends. If you bought unlocked version from Apple directly, it's already unlocked. If you bought from carrier directly (e.g. TM), it's already locked to carrier (ATT SIM will not work with TM carrier locked phone).
For BB, the phone is FLEX policy which will lock phone to the first SIM. So you can activate it with ATT SIM, lock it to ATT and then unlock through ATT portal. But if you activate it with a non-ATT SIM (e.g TM), the phone will be locked to non-ATT carrier and ATT unlock portal will not work.
I'm not really familiar with iPhones, an Android guy, but my kids like Apple, so. . .

And I'm not planning to buy and Leave TMO. . .but was wondering if I buy a Flex BB iPhone, do the ATT unlock, then put it on my TMO account would it result in any less carrier bloatware on the phone vs not doing the ATT trick. . .and would both of those have less carrier bloatware than one bought straight from TMO? I don't care about the quick carrier unlock part. . .just trying to lessen bloatware (and I don't know Apple lol)

With Apple you do not need to worry about bloatware. You have full control of what you get in your phone.

There is no carrier bloatware in iPhone. I had to install T-Mobile and TM Tuesday Apps from App Store after activating my iPhone 13 Pro with TM SIM.

I have exchanged one of the phones at Best Buy because could not process unlock with Att trick for my friend that use Cricket.Waited for about week after following instructions from wiki but no luck.No restocking fees where applied but guys there pretty much aware of phones being locked to the sim that you insert first. This is what they told me but they agree to exchange since they haven't activated phone on the spot. Some how also I got $100 refund for the same phone being exchanged.

???

I have not been with Cricket for years. If he was planning to use your flex phone on Cricket why did you do anything else but stick in his Cricket sim? He could try to unlock later or dispose of it with next year's trade-in program where they are not checking SIM lock status on phones.

I've been equally perplexed with folks wanting a "trick" for Mint Mobile. A TMo locked phone can run a Mint SIM but perhaps not vice versa. Can't and ATT carrier locked phone accept Cricket SIM cards? I seem to remember getting gear designed for Go phone or ATT prepaid and running those with Cricket SIM inside but this was years ago.
