I've owned a few air fryers. I couldn't return this one fast enough! I thought the shelf style would be better than the basket style. Boy was I wrong. Heat is directed down. Food on the top shelf cooks faster, which means you must shuffle the shelves to get even cooking. Handling the small, hot shelves while rotating them is an exercise in dexterity. Using mitts that are likely to get food on them, you either use a pair of mitts and move the shelves with one in each hand, or you must set one shelf down, so you get food drippings on the counter top. And as you shuffle the shelves, food drippings will get on the drop down door. And if you're cooking something like wings that might spatter/pop as it cooks, the interior walls of this will get dirty. Yay, more to clean!!
With the basket style, you just give the basket a shake to get even cooking and the basket itself can be stuck in the dishwasher. You don't have to wipe down the interior like this shelf style. Just my .02 cents 👍🏼

air fryers uses a blower/fan to air fry/super convect. Dehydrators uses a fan also. Just lots less heat.

How does it work as a dehydrator if it also works as an air fryer? An air fryer uses IR to roast the contents but you don't want that with a dehydrator.

There's no "toast" mode, but you can toast bread in any air fryer. It can tend to move around in the airflow towards the end of the process due to losing weight. So just something to be aware of.
