Costco T-Mobile generally gives back tradein value back in visa/master gift card after a month or two. So it is easy for people who want pay upfront rather than waiting for credits over 2 years.

I was going to trade in my 4 XL but figured I would keep that as a backup device or extra device and send in the 2 XL. Don't mind paying the balance for the phone as it is fairly small, but maybe that was a bad idea?

Been doing this for years by keeping the last phone and getting rid of older ones, but haven't really needed them.
That's exactly what I'm planning to do. Have to go to the store though because they also have to do the move from Sprint.

You lose the A71 credits if you pay off early.
No you don't... you still get them as account credits instead... I prepaid 2 of the A32 we got for free to give away to relatives and I still get the credit

I had a similar question, as I traded in for the 4a 5g last year.

I called in, and very unfortunately, you forefit your remaining bill credits, and have to pay the remaining EIP balance in full when you checkout with the new phone.

In my case, for example, I have $270 balance left. I pay about $10 a month towards that, and T-Mobile bill credits about $10 a month towards that.

If I were to continue without upgrading, I will only end up paying $135 of the $270.

That means that if you try to do another trade-in with T-Mobile over the next 24 months, you will find yourself in the same predicament.

I usually make my phones last more than 2 years, so this is not normally an issue, but kinda sucks this time, although, really, I got the 4a 5g for $250 by trading in Pixel 2, so I am still in pretty good shape after all is said and done.
A rep told me "If you pay off the phone early, the promotional credit will continue to be provided to you for the remaining duration as promised" when I asked about the existing trade-in credit. Will ask another rep about this.

If the credits are forfeited and pay off and trade my current phone, I'd be paying $400-ish for Pixel 6 including the $450 promo.

Just upgraded two of my Simple Choice lines to standard Pixel 6's.

Got $450 trade-in value for a Pixel 4 ($54 one-time credit, $16.50/mo credit for 24 months)

Got $300 trade-in value for a Pixel 3 ($9 one-time credit, $12.13/mo credit for 24 months)

Google Store was nowhere near these trade-in values. If you are with T-Mobile and don't plan on leaving anytime soon, this might be the cheapest way to pre-order a Pixel 6.
I got offered $65 for a Pixel 4a...How can a 3 be worth $300?

Wow, I hope that's correct. I enjoy my T-Mobile service at the price I pay, but good god is their trade-in promo process convoluted as all hell.

I was able to do it and I'm not on magenta max, $300 trade in for pixel 3a
What are you on? I'm still one the old TMobile one plan and have a pixel 3. I'd be super happy with 300 off

To those that asked about cracked/chipped screens, this is what T-Mobile says when you try to trade it in...caveat emptor!

"A device with screen damage may be eligible for a reduced trade-in credit but will not qualify for promotions"
I have a perfect iPhone 6, battery doesn't hold much charge due to being so old. That's shouldn't be a problem right?

If it boots up fine, then you are correct.

I have to assume that's OK. There are 3 questions they ask when you go through the trade-in process: does it have an acceptable display (no cracks etc), is there liquid damage, and does the device power on? I would worry about battery capacity as long as it powers on.

I'm on a simple choice plan. I just did the process by logging in, going to the line i wanted to upgrade on and starting the "upgrade" process, the promo was in there when selecting trade in-device

Shows 40 dollars for Trade In for OnePlus 7 Pro
This was very confusing, I assume this is per month credit and not the total value of the trade in?

I have a pixel 2xl that gets an error message after booting in. you just need to hit OK to close the popup. i wonder if that factors in how much you get? maybe i should just leave it powered on when i ship it, then no error message will popup. i'm guessing they're only concerned with hardware damage vs android corruption.

Odd that they have all Samsung Galaxy s20 models except the s20 Ultra 5G. I wonder why that is?
