If you want to do any high heat wok cooking do yourself a favor and get a carbon steel wok
I bought the Sur La Table Professional Carbon Steel Wok and love it ! I own nonstick and a Stainless Steel wok. You really need to get a carbon steel wok to get the high heat and the flavor it gives to stir fry. My other woks don't get any use anymore after buying the real deal carbon wok. My fried rice and Lo Mein taste just like from the restaurant now. Bought it on April 5 for $31.90 free shipping. So might want to wait for it to go on sale again.

Seems a bad idea. Nonstick cookware is not a good idea in my opinion for high temps. I have experienced very unpleasant fumes, causing me to tear up and cough.

Woks are best used at high temps. The wok shape has a small area of contact, so not good as a saute pan. I agree with the other poster to get carbon steel (and season it properly). It will be nonstick and withstand high temps.

As a comparison, Amazon's [amazon.com] price is $79.99 and up (depending upon color).

Does not look very user friendly without a long handle to help you stir fry, especially over high heat

Same brand with handle but smaller size is on sale for the same price. I bought this one (with long handle) during 2020 summer for 27.99, it a good wok if you need it now. Link below:

I'm in the market for a wok. Which brand would you recommend?

Countertop stoves cannot reach a heat level that can breakdown the Teflon to the point that it becomes carcinogenic. It has to be like 500-600 F minimum before it can even breakdown.

Here is the model I bought and am very satisfied with. The wooden handles stay cool.

Here is a pic of it after seasoning it. Looks ugly but it forms a coating that is nonstick. It is built nicely and is heavyweight, not flimsy at all. I followed the included seasoning instructions. It could use another session but I have not used it much yet.

I purchased it from a slick deal a long while back. You will never get one that cheap though.

It is currently at a good deal (IMO) from Target for $19.99:

Well worth it!

That may be so, but the fumes coming off of my nonstick cookware when I have accidentally heated past medium even on medium-high are very unpleasant, make me tear up and cough, so I would never have that in my home on purpose! Still not safe in the event of the coating overheating causing a thick smoke that you would never want to breathe.

Another fact is that most home consumer stoves don't reach the proper temperature for a wok, but that won't stop me with my turbo-burner from cooking as hot as I can.

You will never reach restaurant wok temps without going prosumer I imagine (no I have not shopped around but never seen a wok set up on one. Look at their fire sometime. It is a thing of beauty to watch them work their magic in a couple of minutes. I admit am not educated in the science of it as far as being cancerous, but pretty much everything is anyway. Just ask CA. /s

The fumes are not noxious lol. The temps I stated are just from memory but they have to be really high before the Teflon breaks down. Quit touting fake nonsense because you're scared of something you don't understand.
