While this drive isn't the fastest in sequential/longer reads write, it still does decent enough, especially for this price. the random read/write performance of this drive is the real gem, it'll beat any drive in this price range (assuming same capacity), and since the average pc gamer uses random more, this drive will benefit them more.

$84 for a 1TB NVMe is basically the cheapest a drive can be in this market. You can find things better but they will be more expensive.

WD has been caught switching cheaper controllers and NAND back to this summer, I'd suggest avoid WD products at all cost only if you like lottery. The only major storage company I know has not done anything like this is Hynix, even Samsung did this on its 970 evo plus line.
