Probably the main reason people like Roku is less clutter. The home screen only shows your apps and what little advertising there is, is segmented off to the side. There's none of that "recommended shows" that you don't wanted to watch scattered all around the home page.
Roku.also has the air of impartiality. Even if it doesn't hold up perfectly.
Apple has the Apple reputation of charging too much and trying to lock you in.
What am I missing out on by having a Roku and not a Fire Stick? I wouldn't describe Amazon Android products as an open ecosystem when you have to side load the Play store to get additional apps.
So consumers and all of Wall Street must be wrong. Stock still up 50% from last year even after tanking from a 52-week high of $490. It is just a great product that works that people like. So yeah, you can get janky "streaming boxes" cheaper but they don't have the features or performance. And comparing to the Ultra, no contest for value and feature set with what you mentioned.
Atmos
Dolby Vision
Voice Remote
Mobile Integration
Direct Ethernet Connection
Channel Selection (Even has Apple TV Channel)
I don't have to worry about their squabble BTW I only use NVIDIA Shield, which has a true gigabit ethernet. The Roku only has 100Mbp ethernet. It would work for most people as Netflix 4k doesn't need that much. But for my use case it doesn't work

Is this the same one that's $69 at Target/Kohl's, that I just bought 🧐
Believe target was selling 2021 version where with coupon you could get it down to 63 bucks a couple weeks back. so not sure how slick of a deal a 2020 vs 2021 version is.
Two words: Comcast Users… we can use Roku instead of paying for additional cable boxes.
True..but having to scroll up/down, and not being able to enter channel #s is a pain in the @$$. That's so far the only major complaint. Hopefully they add that ability in a future model/remote.

There is no 2021 Roku Ultra. There is only a 2021 Roku Ultra LT which is only sold at Walmart and is inferior to the 2020 Roku Ultra.
The Target Roku Ultra is the 2020 version which is the same one in this post.
I am still baffled why people buy Roku (yes I bought a high end ultra a while back and returned it. I am not completely unfamiliar). It's extremely limited OS. Just get an Android box. Now a days even ONN player can be had for $19 from recent deal (not sure if that is still valid). Firesticks are always there and the new max firestick is even more awesome than firestick 4k. To me it just doesn't make sense why anyone would want a closed echo system that is not Apple with all its shiny-ness and tight integration with iPhone, iPad, Apple watch etc.
I buy one device from each brand, but the low end ones. Why? All the free trials Showtime, HBO, DIsney plus, etc. for example, bought the Fire stick for $15, got 3 months free Disney plus back when they had that promo; got the Roku express for $5, tons of free trials in that one. I rotate around all the free trials so I'm always watching new content.

I usually watch the same channels so I've resorted to just using my "Recently Viewed" channels or setup favorite channels on the Comcast app instead of scrolling up/down. It's not ideal if you like channel surfing, but it beats scroll up/down and anything is better than paying Comcast for boxes.

Yea..my folks surf theirs..and entering numbers is just easier for them. Gonna try setting up favs on their Comcast app...didn't know that would cross with roku..that may help a bit
