Set up PayPal so you can pay with QR codes. Link your Chase freedom flex as the payment method.

CVS is one of the few places that take PayPal QR codes as payment. It's been recommended to use self checkout, if possible. Once you add the gift card, DO NOT click any payment method on the self checkout terminal. Instead, scan your PayPal QR code like you are buying something. Then it will allow you to checkout and pay with PayPal.

If it does indeed stack with the 2% back at drug stores as the other thread suggests, that's 11% back on up to $1500.
I don't think you read the whole post...
It is only for Freedom Flex.

Not sure if I would be eliglble. I have a Freedom Flex but didn't get any email of the sort about this offer
I suspect all Freedom Flex is eligible since the FAQ is for the general Freedom Flex card holders. It does not say an email is needed.

I recently signed up for this card and just purchased three $500 Visa gift cards at CVS using the Paypal mobile app. That was my first time paying in store via Paypal and it went pretty smoothly. I guess I'll eventually find out how all of these rewards stack. Is 11% what people are thinking we'll get on drugstore purchases made via Paypal?

from their FAQ

please note since both your top spend category and quarterly bonus category offers are earned as 4% bonus cash back on top of the 1% cash back you earn on every purchase, and the 1% can only be earned once per purchase, the most you will earn per $1 spent is 9% cash back:
1% base earn on every purchase
4% bonus earn on quarterly bonus categories
+ 4% bonus earn on top spend category
9% total cash back

Does Costco (warehouse) apply to any of the categories? I'm trying to make a big purchase there, but want to maximize cashback.

How would you use your MasterCard Freedom Flex in Costco?

Thanks. I guess 9% is still better than 5% and it wasn't really much trouble to get the additional 4%..

The only fees I'm aware of are the $5.95 activation fees for each of the three cards I purchased. I believe some of the Visa cards I looked at had a $6.95 activation fee and I honestly have no idea how the cards might differ, or whether they actually do. It's possible some of the cards may have been reloadable, but the ones I bought were not. Assuming everything works as described, you're still coming out ~ $40+ better off taking the CVS gift card route regardless of the activation fees.

New flex cards get 5% on groceries for one year. Would that not be better if easier? Especially if they have Amazon gift cards or $500 visa? Is there a way to pay with Paypal at grocery store?

That might have been a better idea, but I can't really say. I'm new to this card and I had literally never paid in store with Paypal until I bought the three Visa cards at CVS. Just googling it looks like Kroger may accept Paypal in store, and they are my primary grocer. I wasn't really sure they carried loadable Visa cards to $500, but it seems they might. Either way, it's too late for me and I guess I'm happy enough that I took it upon myself to do the CVS/drugstore thing for the extra 40-50 bucks.

Was the extra $40 worth it since you have to deal with tracking the spending on gift cards, risk of losing them.

You are making it way more difficult than it needs to be.
Many people use the $500 VISA gift cards on large "purchases" like paying for insurance.
I keep the gift cards at home.
I have used them to Chewy gift cards too. The best I can get is 3% when using Bank of America Custom Cash Rewards at Chewy, but it will be 7% possibly 9% with Chase this quarter.

That wasn't really a concern for me as I had a large purchase planned and they were spent within 24-48 hours.

You're playing the wrong game if you can't perform these very simple tasks. The fact that you asked this question shows that you should not be playing, and it sounds like you're not. Peace
