So one of my units has micron vram - about a 12% power increase and 15% performance decrease vs samsung memory.... Not sure if mine is a lemon but every other 3070 Iaptop I have has had samsung memory and they perform much better. This will also translate over to gaming. Might want to check your vram.
I think this was in this review:

No. That was due to the system ram not the VRAM on the video card. If you have micron VRAM on your GPU, you will take a performance hit and have higher power draw vs Samsung VRAM.

The thing is the days I go to work is where the problem is. I know my little brother is going to be tempted to game on this bad boy(hes at the age of gaming) I just put a simple password. Also sometimes when relatives come since I am away from work don't feel comfortable. Also gota save this laptop is awesome really thing its a huge upgrade coming from another gaming laptop very worth it.

A nearby town had these in stock a couple of days ago (yay rural America, finally playing to my advantage!) but when I got there they said they didn't have any anymore. Also, the Walmart website was showing the price as almost $1900. Heartbroken, I went home. My phone had the Walmart page still up and I was closing old tabs this morning and it came up as having 3 in stock, this time letting me order online for 1399.99 for pickup. On my way now to get it now.

A local store got a couple of these in. I've been checking irregularly but happened to have hit brickseek about three days apart and discovered the in-stock. I grabbed one. They aren't out on the floor in my instance so an associate had to dig in back but I provided the SKU and barcode from brickseek for them to investigate.

My buddy got his today and also had the Micron vram on the GPU. Same results. With the Samsung vram, you can overclock it +1800 with 1100 core clock lock and get 67MH/s @ 110-115 watts. With the Micron vram you are looking at maybe +600 vram overclock with 1100 core clock lock and getting 59-61 MH/s at 130-135 watts. I have not tested this result with gaming but I imagine there will be a performance/thermal hit simply due to the slower vram speeds and the increased power draw.

The gaming results with Samsung VRAM should be pretty incredible.

I got a Timespy Graphics score of 11,606 with +1300 on memory and +150 on the core.

Stock desktop 3060 Ti score 11,833

I think with a bit more tweaking I could probably match desktop 3060 Ti but my score is within the margin of error and essentially the same.

This is also 8-9% better than the 200 watt RTX 2080 my older Asus ROG laptop had. That unit with tax was $4000. Yet here we are at only $1400 scoring higher both in CPU and GPU.

Luckily 3 of the 4 I purchased have Samsung vram. My Dell, MSI and 3 other Lenovo 3070s all have samsung vram as well. Great mining laptops that beat out the desktop versions. Its too bad there is such a performance gap just due to the vram used on the GPU.

Yup. Even getting a manual price adjustment with a laptop sold by Walmart is nearly impossible. Forget about one sold by a third party.
certainly not impossible not easy but it depends on who you get because it looks bad on that persons record for the day . But im paying way less for mine then the 1399 and no deal from my CC

I own this laptop it's an absolute monster. Don't bother upgrading the ram it's more than enough. Get another stick of storage instead. Screen is amazing, 2 M.2 and plays everything I throw at it.

I managed to snag one yesterday and unfortunately it's a Micron one. Getting 61MH at the full 140w. Not sure if the OC is stable or not yet though. Not the end of the world but a little bit disappointing. Cooling is pretty good. With an active fan on it, it's stable at 65C.

At $1400 its definitely the best laptop I've ever bought for the money. The build quality is fantastic and the screen is lovely. Well worth the price, even with Micron vram. It's still going to mostly pay itself off which I can't say about most of my other purchases.
