Also, this specific model from Walmart is often mentioned as having "bad" RAM. It isn't bad, per se, but rather the fact that the timing can vary based on the exact RAM installed.
A second NVMe storage bay is available, and a 2TB NVMe works fine in either.

For those comparing this laptop to others with faster processors, etc., keep in mind that a 5800 will run a lot faster than a throttled 5900 in a thin or poorly-cooled laptop.
The RAM in this Walmart laptop is the slow tRFC timings. You'll want to upgrade to new RAM if you want the best gaming performance.
Yes, the RAM and storage are not soldered, and so you can replace them no problem.

Core lock 1100 and boosting mem to 950 is getting me 61.4MH at 131w. Dropping the core to 1000 got me 60.2MH at 128w. Mem at 1000 was unstable. It's not a huge difference but 9w over a year definitely still adds up!

Thankfully, both computers I was using had almost no info on them as I was using them to mine only. I recently swtiched to Linux though just in case.

I'm preparing for some flux, the sort of upheaval that having a screaming desktop doesn't make much sense for. My existing desktop is aging (not to mention I can't seem to get my hands on a GFX card for a reasonable cost) and I need to replace my clapped out hand-me-down laptop that kicked it not too long ago.
It's quite a bit more than I was looking to spend - nearly double in fact - but it had most of the little things in it that I put an unusually high value on: being able to charge the battery with USB-C is important, even if I can't power the GPU with it is valuable to me (especially given how big the power brick is). Having a nice screen is valuable to me. Having a decent number of USB ports is valuable to me. I don't regret that all the "little things" like these ended up costing more - I would have been fine, power wise, with like the Acer TUF laptops that have been on here, but they seemed to lack some of the amenities that make using a laptop a little nicer. Having a 3070 in it was just gravy for me. After a quick GPU check, I lucked out and got Samsung ram - more gravy.
This laptop is big (for a 16") and hefty and dense. It reminds me of carrying a laptop from a decade ago, but about half as thick. For me, a 15.6" laptop is the perfect blend of portability and screen size, and this is just a hair too big to be perfect, but it's certainly not a 17+" laptop - those are a step too far. It feels good, solid and unyielding. It's not terribly sleek. It's got all sorts of little things that jut out here and there (mostly fan vents). I actually like the bump in the back, it makes for a nice grip for under the arm carry - it reminds me of the netbooks of old that had the external extended batteries that hung off of the back. I always liked that despite looking a bit odd. Speaking of power and size, the brick is huge - like 1"x 9" x 4" huge (not actually measured).
Looks-wise, it's very gamer-y. I know it's a gaming laptop, but I guess it's been so long since I've sought out this sort of thing that I was taken aback by it. It has a big Y shaped white light on the lid (don't like it, probably will get something to cover it) the keyboard is RGB controllable in thirds (already got it tuned to a solid warm white). It's very angular, like the designer had never heard of a fillet. I get the idea this is probably all on the milder side of what gaming gear is like, and I don't hate it per se, but it's not my chosen aesthetic.I I think Lenovo did a very tasteful take on the gaming look and I think I would dislike some of the other whiz-bang options out there.
Man, the screen is gorgeous. Very sharp. Vibrant without being oversaturated. Bright without being washed out. Simply gorgeous. What's the refresh rate on this? Who cares, it's smooooth.
The keyboard is surprisingly nice. I was hoping for a little better out of Lenovo, but I knew it wasn't the same keeb in Thinkpads. It's the nicest non-Thinkpad laptop keyboard I've used - scratch that - I had an ancient Dell Latitude that I would put it's keyboard up against a Thinkpad's, but we're talking about 15+ years ago. It was a beast and I bet the keyboard layer half as thick as the Legion 5 Pro's main chassis. The track pad is ok. I can't put my finger on what could be better about it, I just don't care for it a whole lot.
It doesn't have a fingerprint reader and I knew that going in, but that doesn't change the fact that I wish it did. As I said before, this thing isn't exactly streamlined, so I can probably put one in the side USB slot and not notice the protrusion much.
All in all, this is nice. I don't regret stretching the budget one bit, and I haven't even gotten into any intensive applications yet.

checked with gpuz, i got the micron Vram 3070. Not even sure if i will be able to buy another one to check for the samsung. this was almost impossible to get
