- Doctor Who: The Complete David Tennant Collection features some surprisingly robust sounding DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mixes, with consistent engagement of the surround channels as well as some floorboard rattling LFE, at least on occasion. There are occasional goofy but nonetheless enjoyable sound effects, including some swirling panning effects as the TARDIS makes its way to new locations (both spatially and temporally). Some urban or at least relatively crowded sequences also provide good opportunities for well placed ambient environmental effects. Dialogue is rendered cleanly and clearly throughout this problem free track.

Doctor Who has always been political so that doesn't bother me, its just the heavy handed lesson of the week monologs that Jodi was forced to deliver every episode that felt offensive because of the lazy writing.
Tennant was excellent, sure there are some goofy, awful episodes but thats part of the Doctor Who charm.
Blink is an absolutely brilliant episode, id put up against almost any scifi show in existence. That episode alone is worth the price of admission.

With Doctor Who going so far back, you can't really watch it from the beginning. Each doctor is different, and things look different with each doctor. While the stories are all canon, they don't build on top of each other really, and you won't be missing out on too much if you haven't watched the classic Doctors.
Having said all that, if you want to watch a classic Doctor so that you feel you understand the Whoverse, go with Tom Baker.
If you don't want to watch any classic Doctor Who, or after you have, then move on to the first modern Doctor Who series with David Eccleston. The Eccleston series is a bit hit and miss, because they were still trying to figure out how best to make a modern version. They were working out the kinks and finding what works best. Watching the Eccleston series will have you prepared for all the other modern Doctors

However, this is an excellent collection, with a lot of bonus content. I love it - definitely a must for Tennant fans and Whovians. And this is the same price that I snagged it at earlier this year. I don't think it's been cheaper since COVID.
BTW, all of the Doctor Who episodes from 2005 onwards are on HBO Max, so if you have a subscription, and don't necessarily care about the bonus content, just watch it there.

I know many people here on slickdeals dislike any sort of political commentary from posters, but the fact of the matter is that tons of media today is filled to the brim with political messages, and it is impossible to accurately critique a show without mentioning the politics.
So what went wrong with the first female doctor? They completely blew it. The Doctor is a powerful character, both in terms of intelligence, logic, and bravery. Instead of doing the obvious and making the first female doctor possess all those traits, they turned her into an indecisive, weak, morally-paralyzed character whose main focus is leftist politics. It cannot be overstated just how badly they screwed up.
A female Doctor is one of the few characters where people would have instantly believed she was a strong character. She wouldn't have to "prove it" because she would simply *be* the Doctor. No ifs, ands, or buts.
tl;dr: they killed what makes Doctor Who great, they failed miserably at their first female doctor, and the show became SJW propaganda instead of lighthearted entertainment
Discovered the Capaldi episodes while flipping channels one night and became addicted. It's so disappointing to see what has happened to this great show.

The episode written by Neil Gaiman where the TARDIS comes alive as Suranne Jones may be the best Doctor Who episode of the modern series. But there is no doubt that David Tennant was an amazing Doctor.
Russell T. Davies, who was the showrunner and lead writer during the first 4 seasons, is coming back in 2023 with the next Doctor after Jody Whitaker finishes.

Yeah...everything woke turns to crap. I'm going to give it a shot when I get to it, but I have not heard good stuff.
