Holy hell people, we all know about the 'science' of artificial sugars. Caffeine has a nasty taste to most people to in order to make it palpable in a beverage that isn't coffee or tea so they have to add sweetener. I'm not sure what energy drinks you think The Rock drinks but if it's not one with sugar or artificial sweetener then it must be some custom blend made for him because I haven't seen anything else.

If you're the 'everything in moderation' type you'll be just fine drinking a can of something sweetened with artificial sugar once in awhile. It's not going to kill you. I would avoid downing several cans of this stuff a day but 'not in excess' is a pretty hard and fast rule for most things that aren't vegetables.

The lemon lime is also on sale, and it's sweetened with stevia extract, as opposed to sucralose for the original flavor.

Any recommendations on energy drinks that aren't slammed with artificial sweeteners? They make all these so sweet.

Hey we took out all the sugar and replaced it with man-made chemicals that definitely don't cause cancer and other diseases. Drink up!

Uh a small redbull (8.4oz) is 80mg of caffeine. That would make half a redbull 40mg...

I am a doctor and let me tell you, stay away for these artificial sweetened caffeinated drinks. they have long term harmful affects to your body.
You're a doctor but don't know the difference between "affect" and "effect"?

I'm not saying these are good for you by any means, but when people start throwing around the carcinogen warnings, I just like to provide a friendly reminder that sunshine is also carcinogenic.

Most things are safe in moderation.

That said, I concur that these taste like vitamins smell. Which is gross.

I can't agree more. I have no idea why this drink is so highly rated. I wouldn't even take this for free after trying it. Possibly the worst tasting energy drink I've ever had. To each their own.

Info on the fake sugar. https://www.webmd.com/diet/what-i...otassium#1 [webmd.com]

Bigger item about the entire category of fake sugars. https://www.webmd.com/diet/obesit...u-hungrier [webmd.com]

You may want to look for a caffeinated drink without either real or fake sugar. (Sadly I hate the taste of coffee so thats out for me)
I want to point out that the studies that these articles fail to cite, but do indirectly reference, were incredibly skewed by focusing on individuals already obese with nutritionally bad dietary habits who would be predisposed to make less than ideal diet choices. And the information regarding gut biome is completely unsupported by actual study data, it only correlates, again, with individuals with bad dietary habits.
