I can't believe this is so cheap already! What a great deal. I've had a lot of fun playing this. It's not as nice looking on the switch as it is for Xbox, but it plays well. I'm not sure if they'll update the other versions to allow for offline play, but for now this is the only version you'd be able to play if the servers go down.

Highly recommend you open any video game system intended as a gift in advance and get it set up. The system will need to be updated, accounts set up, games need to be installed and updated, and you can charge it up. Otherwise your kid will spend half the day trying to figure this stuff out on their own. A recent Fortnite update on the Switch took 25 mins to download and install. You can always repackage everything after getting it set up.

Unfortunately not I bought a switch last year for Christmas for my son and couldn't buy any digital games without opening it which I didn't want to do but some people open it and get it ready to use

This does have online PvP and PvE as well as offline modes, but it doesn't have crossplay. Despite having this on Xbox, I picked this up so we can play with switch friends and family. An added perk if you have multiple switches in the house is that this will work online on multiple accounts, which can be hit or miss with switch titles.

How do I get this if I am getting my wife a switch for Christmas? She loves this game but the switch is unopened

Edit: Saw gamestop has physical game for sale for 19.99 today so just ended up purchasing that

I played Garden Warfare 2 and really enjoyed it, despite being ~20 years older than the target age demographic. I was disappointed by Battle for Neighborville. I can't really put my finger on exactly what went wrong, but it's just not as fun. Critics thought it was just a little bit worse, but I couldn't get into it at all.

Just went through this recently. If you alesady have a working switch at home and you have access to your wife's email this is what you can do. Create a new nintendo account online with your wife's email and confirm the account in there. Then delete your account from your switch and log her in on your switch. Buy the game on switch and it'll add it to her account. Then delete her account and relogin to your switch. Kind of a roundabout and long shot way but only way for now. I wish Nintendo allowed "buy digital as gift" from their eshop like Xbox does.

Also, as another option. This title allows for multiple installs on multiple switches as long as each switch is linked to a separate EA account. So, buy it on your account if your wife or other household person is on the same family plan for nintendo. Then once she logs in, add your account to her switch, go into re-download option and redownload the title on her switch. Once she opens it, she can link her switch to a new EA.com account. This is usually only needed to do once for any EA Titles you install on the switch. Note, this option works for some indie titles as well but rarely on any top tier titles. usually it is one download per purchase and locked to the account that bought it. always worth checking though so you don't buy it multiple times for multiple switches. sadly I have 4 on my family plan so it gets expensive if we all need a copy.
