Bought this at full price and don't regret it. Had an oopsie my first time and made a huge mess with caulking getting all over the tool and the teeth. Pretty straight forward disassembly to clean up and put back together… At this price, it's well worth it.

A consistent, even bead every time was the advantage for me. You can go ahead and say that the regular caulk gun works fine for you, but everybody has their skills and failings.

You use a manual caulk gun on adhesives or thicker sealants all day and enjoy the wrist and arm pain. If I'm laying a single bead or just using regular silicone caulk sure, I'll use a manual gun. But you pull out a whole case of Loctite PL? Yeah, you'll want this.
I don't have the ryobi one but I do have the dewalt version. Both in 10oz and 28oz versions and they're one of my favorite tools. Easy to use, consistent, and keeps a lot of pain and aches away.

Wonder if any real difference between the ridgid and ryobi one. Aside from the current price

I have all ridgid batteries but have a ryobi adapter for when I feel like using ryobi tools.

This might be the lowest price for a factory blemished unit. I bought one from Home Depot last June for about $1 more. If you plan to do a lot of caulking I'd recommend using it with a 1.5ah battery. My arms got a little tired after several door trims using a 3ah battery.

same Ive used it a million times, dont regret it at all. except I popped a caulk once, I didnt have the punctured hole big enough and went to fast, it poooped everywhere. whatever, still works

So what's the advantage compared to a regular caulk gun? Is it so you don't have to press hard?

The Ridgid one is about a pound lighter, which is nice when you're hitting a lot of locations, or operating one-handed/on a ladder. I'm not sure about the Ryobi one, but the tube holder is removable on the Ridgid unit, which allows it to rotate when you're doing a corner (just don't rotate it all the way off). The hook on the Ridgid one is actually pretty nice and I use it more than I thought, and it doesn't look like the Ryobi has it. All things being said, the price difference is a big hit, and if you only use it every once in a while the extra pound isn't going to kill you - go Ryobi.

Walking along running a smooth seemless bead along white silicone that connects deck to the back patio was worth it alone.

Windows, doors, bathroom cracks, trim, etc. All locations with visible caulk is the reason to use an electric one.

100% of people asking why or saying "what's the point" have never used them. Why use a paint gun on a car when a roller would work? Finished product and ease of production.

There's probably nothing wrong with a manual one. But, it's 2021 and I'm trying to automate anything I can. This gave me better "aim" and more patience because my hands/forearms weren't burning or cramping.
