these are garbage. the adjusting mechanism is too loose to stay tight around whatever you're tightening. it'll constantly slip
That's a damn shame. I have 8" and 10" Crescent brand adjustables from 30-40 years ago and they're as good today as they were when I bought them and used during my career as a Machinist, they should be worn out but they're aren't.

3 decades ago, that is a different world comparing to today.
I bought an 8in adjustable 2 in 1 wrench years ago for like $7 from harbor freight (back when they were decent) and use it for everything. Padded handle is great and it stays where you select. Looks like it's $11 now and slightly different which probably means not as good quality so ymmv

Crescent wrenches sucked back then as they do now. I remember busting my knuckles on bmx axle nuts and rounding the nuts so many times. The design of crescent wrenches is just bad for anything that needs a decent amount of torque irregardless of the quality of the wrench.
Knipex plier wrenches are spendy, but are a game changer when it comes to adjustable wrenches.

These Husky ones would probably hold their setting better for not much more money.

Also great, but way more expensive: Knipex pliers wrench
Knipex pliers wrench for the win. I know they are much more expensive, but they are awesome.
