Perfectly loud keyboard if your boss needs to be convinced that you should still be allowed to work from home ;-)

Would help to label the thread as TKL for tenkeyless or to explicitly call this out as an 87 key keyboard.

Good luck!

Also wanted to add that these are Outemu switches, so they're not a completely unknown vintage of mechanical switch.

Good luck!

Odd, I received some sort of weird wrapping paper gift with my order.

New to this stuff. Is it cherry key?
These are Outemu brand switches.

The cheapest keyboards I've ever seen with Cherry MX switches have been in the $40-50 range. I have a Rosewill (Newegg house brand) with Cherry MX Brown switches that went for around $30 after $50 mail in rebate in 2016. Of the two I bought, one developed a problematic keyswitch but the other is still in my daily driver rotation.

Good luck!

I have the K582 model [redragonshop.com] with RGB that I bought from Best Buy and love it. Redragon is an underrated brand for a decent price.

Redragon keyboards are alright for their price. The switches don't last particularly well, though. I junked one because of that and I've got another one with replaceable switches that's having the same issues after about three years.

Also, their Outemu Blue switches are very, very noisy

Besides the numeric pad, what is the difference between the two keyboards? I prefer one with a numeric pad for work.
Note that one has own-label branding on their switches, vs the model with Outemu switches. Unless you can verify their source for mechanical switches, I'd be even more wary of any low-cost provider offering own-brand switches.

Good luck!

Buying the mechanical switches alone would probably not be cheaper than the whole keyboard here.

Outemu makes the best brown switches IMO (I like them more than Cherry MX browns) but can't say much about the blues in this kb. Outemus also go by the name Gaote (parent company) and are generally considered similar to Kalih switches but with better build quality.

I have this keyboard, I paid about $35 on amazon. From my experience, it is very loud and sometimes not responsive. I use it for my mac mini, and sometimes it wakes up randomly by itself and sometimes it lags in response when I type. I'm not sure if its because i use it on Mac or is the keyboard itself. But i dont really recommend it.

Have this keyboard and it's good for the price. Loud but it wasn't a bother for me, very sturdy

I got this last time it was posted and it turned out to be my favorite keyboard. Well I guess blue is my new favorite switch. It's really crisp unlike my Model M daily driver.

I don't love the font on the keycaps or the red backlight but for $20 I can forgive that. The logo comes off with a magic eraser and some elbow grease.

Mechanical keyboards with number pads also go on sale often. I don't think I've seen one with genuine mechanical switches for much under $30, though.

Here's a Red Dragon with all the keys and red type linear switches (not very loud, but no bump when you press on them - much less noisy than blue type switches). It's about $5 more than the ten keyless red switch Red Dragon one also on Amazon:

Redragon K551 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard RGB LED Rainbow Backlit Wired Keyboard with Red Switches for Windows Gaming PC (104 Keys, Black): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016M91...UTF8&psc=1

^ This keyboard would be a great way to get started with mechanicals to see if you like them. FWIW, I would try red type switches first.

You get what you pay for.

Shortening a rant I typed:

It's better that you invest in an open box from Logitech or Razor of a model from 6 years ago than something this junk level. Also, dont forget, Amazon reviews are easily manipulated. This keyboard is at junk level. If you know that, are cool with it then god speed.. otherwise, if you're unsure.. go with a trusted brand even if it cost a bit more.

They aren't bad. Not great either.

I had one, bought one for my son. Feel and sound great. But both broke within 6 months. (Some keys went inactive, others repeated heavily).

For anyone considering MX Blues, maybe consider Kaihl Box switches instead. I'm really enjoying my box white keyboard that I got to try out, feels very crisp. Unfortunately not as cheap as this, though.
