Yeah, no thanks.
Not if you're an existing customer. Maybe if you're new, but I did it with the Spire offer and this just now and no hard pulls either time.

Do I have to keep the $100 cash reward at Fidelity once I receive it?

Yes. While you don't need to keep your initial deposit of $50 in the new account for more than the qualification period, you must keep the $100 cash reward (minus any losses related to trading or market volatility, or margin debit balances) in the eligible account for a minimum of 90 calendar days starting from when you receive the reward.

this. so many people making this harder than it has to be. do this and ensure you get your bonus. then you are free to open up as many other accounts of all types at any time with money from practically anywhere you want, whenever you want....on your own time[line]. but open a free simple cash mgmt account, put $50 new money it in, leave it alone, wait for bonus. or you can f* up an easy deal like so many others are trying to do self-inflicted.
They don't teach finanicial literacy in school.
For some folks the HR department is no help.
They just give you the paper work but it is up to you to understand which funds are good and which ones to avoid.

I was behind a woman at Walmart the other day at the customer service counter.
I think she was trying to send money to someone and she did not have enough money to cover the fees.
I wasn't standing close enough to overhear the conversation.
Afterwards I saw her at near the rack with Serve cards.
Then even later I saw her back at the customer service counter.
It is kind of sad.

It is essentially a checking account.
It goes to show your family friend is not someone I would go to for financial advice.

I suggest you invest $15 and read https://www.amazon.com/Bogleheads...775&sr=8-1

Another data point, I have a Fidelity 401K account from work, and linked and applied for the Cash Management account last night.

Also, I did not click on the link, I copy and pasted it so SD didn't add in fillers.

I got the promo confirmation email this morning (within 12hrs of account opening):

You're on your way
Thanks for registering for the $100 cash reward. As a reminder, you have up to 15 calendar days to deposit $50 or more to qualify.

You'll receive the $100 cash reward within 25 days after you opened an eligible account.

Opened acct 10/26, also never received the "same day email confirmation" confirming qualified for the FIDELITY100 promotion.

Just had 15" telcon with Fidelity Rep, who had to contact the related dept to get the following answer/explanation:

I opened a joint account, and "confirmation emails are delayed for joint accounts." -no explanation why.

The rep added a note to my account to document our conversation/verify qualified for the promotion, and directed me to contact Fidelity if the $100 not deposited 25 days after accoun opened.

My father had a 403(b) because he worked for a non-profit. He didn't have a 401(k).
Once you leave your employer, you have the option to roll over the 403(b) to an IRA.
If you want to open an IRA with Fidelity, I suggest the Fidelity Total Market Index Fund.
It has a very low 0.015% expense ratio.
You get to keep more of the money the fund makes.

FZROX is basically the same index fund, with 0% expense ratio (for now). The fund is only 3 years old so it may or may not be available to employer 401k or 403b, but should be a relatively safe long term bet for an IRA, with a low price for entry.

I opened an account for both me and the misses and neither one of us got the promo confirmation email - just the email stating we had opened up a new account. I guess we're not the only ones so hopefully the money will just magically show up in our accounts. I made sure the promo code was entered, etc. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see how it goes.

I just opened a Fidelity Traditional IRA and rolled over a Fidelity netbenefits 401k into it. Would that qualify?
