The Home Depot 268 pcs Husky set is better than the 270 pcs set because the 268 pc set has 20x wrench + 10 tiny wrench. 270 set has 14x + 10 tiny wrench. Also, 168 sockets vs 148 for this 270 set.

I believe the 230 piece set that was on sale from Labor Day for $99 is a better set - the 230 has 40 less pieces, but the 270 piece has 45 more hex keys and bits, and 4 less extensions and 1 less socket. If you need something now might not be a bad deal, but don't let the "extra" 40 pieces fool you. This set is the same or worse than the 230 piece set. As for the 290 set for $149, that has more sockets and wrenches than either the 230 or the 270, but for $50 more, not sure if it is worth it.

The Kobalt set is a "Household" tool set, vs the Husky "Mechanics" toolset. very different purposes. I looked close at the Kobalt set, and the sockets are pretty basic, and over 100 pieces of the set are basically screwdriver bits. That said, I actually like the case for it's purpose (wheels and deploys), the allen keys are rounded, and it does have a solid variety of tools.. I'd say you could get most things done with minimal knowledge and that set. In the garage, the Kobalt set is a terrible idea. The lacking sockets, the cheap bits, and the fold out case is designed for pull it out, fix a thing, put it away, vs Husky's toolbox style for open it and leave it open on the bench.

For me, the Kobalt is a clearance buy, the Husky would buy on a slightly better sale. Also a little concerned about the future of Kobalt.. feels like Lowes pushing it aside for Crapsman.

I don't think the 268 piece is available anymore but I agree.

Depending on your needs, I feel this is a better deal, unless you need all those sockets. More "essential" tools in this one: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...5001729363

Dont do it. The case is terrible. There is no locking mechanism on the drawers. Fell out while carrying it twice on me!

Just ordered one. Had a few gift cards so it just made sense. A read a few comments about the drawers sliding out. Some individuals drilled through the case and slid a metal rod through the drawers to prevent them from falling out. We will find out.

Yes but you may or may not need other tools depending on your setup. If it's a tight fit v6. You might need to push the engine forward. Look it up on YouTube what you'll need and what you'll need to do.

Still a decent set at a good price considering the case flaws. I keep it near the garage door and mainly use it in the driveway so it doesn't have to go far. Saves me countless trips back and forth to my main toolboxes in the garage.

I like the "Husky vs Air Cannon into Concrete Wall" video even if that has absolutely nothing to do with the likely failure use case I'd be concerned about in terms of quality.

Just wrap a bungee cord around the case....
