This regularly goes on sale for $99 and has been as low as $80, I got this with a military discount which home depot also applies online for those that aren't aware (https://www.homedepot.com/c/military). It's a really solid set, I keep it in the garage as a static set so I'm not upset when a piece magically disappears (always a 10mm, not even a joke) but aside from the typical S wrench there hasn't been a time where I had to dig into my Dewalt or Kobalt sets for a tool or socket. I would say this covers about 95% of most people's needs since I work on my personal cars (mostly German sports cars and a Range Rover) as well as my friend's cars which include JDM 90s cars and even things like GTRs and American cars.

I love having a case where everything has a marked place so you know if you're missing something but I wish they would leave some open space to add the tools that they don't include in the kit.

I've had this for a while, tools are ok case is pure shit. Drawers don't work, snaps on lid suck and fly off, don't even try to take this out in the field, it will flip open and you'll lose everything. I hate this case have dumped it multiple times. Also bought at $99.

What's the best set in this category? Does it have the socket adapters with hex keys for motorcycle use? Thanks

i agree. i also prefer this type of drawer style case as it takes up less bench space. i have a dewalt set also, but that one has a suitcase type case and it takes up a huge amount of space when you have to open it up..

@XRAYTID but I'm not a mechanic or any type of YT personality for wrenching on cars. I'm more popular as an enthusiast and racer on the track.

Consensus says that the best set in this category for mechanics is the Dewalt Mechanic's 192 piece which rarely goes on sale and when it does rarely comes down below $149 and often when it does e.g. the last few times at 129, it sold out quickly even at stores allowing price matching. It's that popular. I have this and the Dewalt set along with the Kobalt 129 piece (which is my travel set) and though I do prefer the Dewalt set for the build quality and included sockets, like I said before the Husky covers over 95% of the needs, even better when you can get it for sub $100 pricing.

I got 2 of these around Christmas 2 Christmas' ago for $99. I actually thought they were $99 more often than they were regular priced. They are nice quality. As others have mentioned in the past the top deck of sockets is not held in place by closing the lid so if you carry the box around or leave it in your vehicle you will always have a messy top section. Mine's stationary in my garage so it's not an issue.

The case is fine for me, but I don't transport it anywhere. It just sits in my garage and I pull tools as I need to from it. I would agree that it would suck for transport since it's plastic and it might break after a while.

I don't quite understand the selection for the 1/2 in. sockets (1/4 in. and 3/8 in. are great though).

God I wish I bought this instead of the farking 200 piece set that I bought a few years ago. I had to buy holders for all these loose goddamn sockets - wish it was just in a box.

Whats weird to me is that I can get the military discount all day long online, yet if I go into the store for the same item they will not allow me to apply it to items already on sale.

Bought this last time it was $100.

I like it.
And as stated before, it does cover most of your wrenching needs.

I only ever go to my tool drawers for a specialty piece now or if I need double of something (two wrenches)

I have literally used this in a field and recently Smilie
Transported in a van and set it up in a grass field and worked from it most of the day. Not perfect but knowing the case flaws and limitations you can work around them. I use as my driveway or yard tool box all the time. I know exactly what is and is not in it and grab accordingly but it definitely cuts way down on what else I have to grab. Not specific to this tool kit but I NEVER separate or take just a tool or two from it and walk away as pieces go missing or misplaced or intermingled and the whole known "kit" concept fails if pieces go missing. I think 2020 Christmas HD had a bulk 200 piece Husky socket kit in a cardboard box for like $60 and I use that for replacements.
