Don't get this one. Sliding is 100x more useful

If you're mitering window trim, door casing, brickmold, regular baseboard, small crown, quarter round, etc., this size fixed saw is fine. You don't need a slider which adds expense, complexity, slop and size.

If you need to cut 2x4s or other framing materials, a circular saw is quicker and plenty accurate for that task.

First 🥇, anyone have good experience with this miter saw, looking to purchase first one, for home Reno stuff, been using a circular saw/hack saw for certain cuts
This could ALMOST cut a clean 2x4, with about a few mm short. But it gets the job done if you need quick 2x4 cuts away from your heavy miter saw. But good luck if you want a clean 45 degree or even 22 degree cut in one chop of a 2x4. Which would benefit this over using a circular with a framing square.

I made a jig for it just so make setting the long boards easier from modern builds (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YJlZ0V3mIU).

Sliding means the saw is able to be moved forward and backwards allowing it to completely cut wider boards.

I've got this one and the 7-1/4 slider. This one is great for cutting 2x4 but the slider is much more useful and not much heavier or bulkier.

I have this as a little portable small miter saw. Picked up last year for the same price. I've used it when we didn't want to lug our giant sliding 10 inch miter saw or materials back and forth. This is great for small projects and trim. The better the battery the better the cuts will be. I notice a drastic difference going from the 1.5 amh to the 4 amh battery.
If this would be your only miter saw, I would not recommend. Or if you only need a miter saw for small things and the biggest thing you'll cut is a 2x4.

Wish this would cut 2v6. I guess I need the slider for that... this seems like it's more useful for trim work.

Like another poster said if you're just cutting 2x4 all u need is a circular saw and a speed square to get perfect cuts. Or if you do it enough just the saw lol
