No. This battery provides more current for brushless applications but same amount of capacity. Watch a YouTube video to see performance comparisons. The 4x number is comparing vs a battery roughly 4x smaller.

The only thing that makes sense is that "standard lithium" means their small regular battery. 4AH is the capacity that is the total energy which is directly proportional to run time.

Their marketing confuses me, I got the HP brushless drill and impact set and got the HP batteries from tools direct thinking I needed them. But my HP drill/driver don't have the terminals for the HP battery. So how do you know what tools actually use the terminals ?
You already said the magic word: MARKETING.

Anyway, you can go on youtube and check reviews for the tools that actually have the extra contacts. And depending on the reviewer, if those extra contracts actually help the tool run better....or not.

Anyone know how they doing this? Moving form 18650 batteries to 21700 batteries. I don't see it possible to get 4x still.

Battery cells are 18650 in both old and new.

So, how do they do it?

A change in processor is certainly possible, but unless you have all new brush-less tools with the new connectors, the real magic comes from good old fashioned bullshiit and disingenuously comparing the new batteries to old NiMH batteries. Works every time...

Have you tested this on tools without the "two new contacts'?

I bought a compact brushless kit a couple of weeks ago (drill/impact) and neither has the new contacts in the handle.

Ryobi is not playing nice and they're hiding info from everyone. If the tool doesn't have the contacts, it can't take advantage of the HP batteries....
The new brushless tools do not use the additional contact. I have 3 new brushless tools that I also have the non-brushless version but I have not tested the different kinds of batteries on them yet. I have only tested the different batteries thoroughly on a brushless circular saw. They have also changed the design of the HP batteries recently. All my HP batteries (3, 4, and 9Ah) were from 2-3 years ago. So the new HP battery may be different. I guess I can test the 4Ah HP and non-HP batteries on brushless and non-brushless reciprocal saw with a 2x4.

That's known as 'the good ole' days".
Yesterday a Ryobi miter saw was FP at $99. I remember getting that saw as just One of two Free tools included a $150 bundle, a couple years ago.
I am glad that I am pretty much set with the free tool deals from last few years. The last deal was the 4 brushless tool kit bundle with another free brushless tool. Now I have around 20 Ryobi tools (with a few duplicates due to brush/brushless), >10 batteries, and half a dozen or so chargers (slow and fast). Most of the tools/batteries I got were 30-50% off their regular prices from those deals. The only thing I was hoping to get was the dual battery sliding compound miter saw, but then I found a good deal on a Metabo dual bevel sliding compound miter saw at half of that cost a year or two ago. All I need now is just accessories.

These are ideal for PowerWheels upgrade. I have two (wired in parallel) in my kids jeep and it goes so much faster and the batteries last quite a while, but having a whole bunch of Ryobi batteries means the fun never has to stop. I used a couple of cheap refurbished Ryobi flashlights as the battery mounts and wired them into the jeep.

So this why my pick up in store order is still being processed after 24 hours, even though that store has 57 in stock
Could very well be wrong. I have purchased items that have shown XX in stock, get a call from a manager that says they cant find a single one.

Buy now before they run out of stock. If black friday have better deal.... return the old purchase. I already leaned my lesson. Sometimes black friday prices are more money. than regular sale. HD return policy is 90 days.
This is excellent info!!!! 👍
