I haven't used a screen protector in about 7 years and 5 phones. Only one phone in that time got a scratch. Are they really necessary these days? Even on the best ones I hate the seems they create.
For me personally, if I am investing near $1,000 in a product, what's an additional $8-$12 (typical price) to ensure my investment is protected? Again, this is strictly my opinion and standards, for myself. Based on reviews, Gorilla Glass Victus does well in drop protection, but seems to be more prone to light scratches. This is what I have heard based on reviews.

As for the Pixel 6 Pro, having the curved screen was close to a showstopper for me due to the fact that tempered glass screen protector aren't as effective given the curved edges. I purchased 2 different tempered glass protectors for the Pro, so only time will tell how well they hold up.

I completely agree on cost, that's worth it without question. It's more the look and functionality of them I don't like. Correlated with the question of necessity it's a tough choice for me personally.

I concur on the aesthetics, which is honestly a struggle at times. I like the "naked" look so to speak, but am forced to protect the phone due to my OCD and need to keep things as close to perfect as what's in my control. I use the most minimal case possible, but again, my preference would be not to use one if it wasn't for everyday usage mishaps.

I normally resell my phones too, so my motto is; I wouldn't sell something used that I wouldn't want to purchase for myself. On that note, anyone looking to buy a used Pixel 4 XL in black? I am kidding of course, but I really will be selling it.

They say that... while gorilla victus glass is stronger (less resistance to cracking) it scratches easier then gorilla glass 6.

But I to am on the fence. I use a drop proof case and normally do not use a screen protector and I usually do get multiple scratches on the phone... only visible when the phone is turned off.

At the same time I hate plastic screen protectors... but due to the curve glass... do we have a choice?

I've never tried a screen protector that didn't make me feel like touch sensitivity was adversely affected. Damien from 9to5Google reported problematic touch unlock with a *tempered glass* protector on Pixel 6 (not sure whether Pro version or regular) on yesterday's Q&A.

Religiously used screen protectors on all my previous phones but finally figured maybe screen glass progressed enough with my S21 Ultra but alas now I have to live with this scratched screen.

Hopefully this won't have a negative impact on the reliability of the fingerprint reader.
I have used this brand's screen protectors in the past on several phones. I have never had an issue with the quality of their products.

looks like a good deal but Id rather go with ballistic glass. I've used it for all my pixel phones and my work cell and they actually work, rather shatter the ballistic glass than the screen(did that too, phone hit on the only part that didnt have the glass, if I recall it was $150+ screen change)

Can you link the tempered glass protectors you bought?

Sure thing, see below. I managed to snag these before my order on launch day. Seems they are sold out now.

If they suck, hopefully something better comes out before I use them all.

This is just a sheet of plastic with adhesive on the edges. It will last a few months.

If you really want to protect your phone get something like Spigen Pixel 6 Pro Screen Protector Neo Flex. It's very flexible and provides much better protection.
I bought a similar one from Verizon when Note 9 came out.... and it's still on my phone barely visible 3 years later.
