What's the difference between an impact and regular bit? I need some bits for my regular drill. Will these work, and if so, are they overkill (and therefore more expensive)?

Would these be good for brick?
No. But if you have one hole with one brand new drill bit it might work once. And don't use with an impact you'll break the brick. Better to get the ones made for mason

Several more are on sale, the 19, 23, 27, 30, 36,60, & 95 sets piece sets. Some of the cheaper ones:

30 piece for $29.88:

60 Piece for $34.97 includes bits:

The 30 piece is just two identical 15 piece kits

Red Helix bits have been my go-to for a few years. Buying another set for the hell of it.

Impact bits have a hex-shaped end shank to allow quick changes and stability in a impact drill. These will work with a regular drill only difference is you have to loosen and tighten the chuck each time. Still, the hex shape makes a more secure fit vs a smooth round shank. It's not overkill because Milwaukee Shockwave bits are very good and will last you longer than a cheaper brand (e.g., Husky or Ryobi)

What are these used For mainly?
Wood/metal?

I have a hard time figuring and distinguishing between metal, wood, plastic, and brick.

Once, maybe (as long as the hole is not too deep).

These bits have a titanium coating so they would work perfectly for all but the hardest metals (like thicker stainless steel) and would also be perfect for all woods and plastics. They ARE NOT to be used to drill brick/masonry ever! The titanium coating helps make the bits themselves "smoother" (as compared to normal black oxide bits) so they generate less heat from friction during use which results in a longer cutting lifespan.

For really hard metals (like stainless) you would want cobalt bits, but be aware that they are more prone to breakage due to their extreme hardness.

For brick/masonry drilling use bits specifically made for masonry which have a different design and are "softer" to resist breakage. Diamond coated bits also excel for this use and should also be used when drilling ceramics.

Finally, impact rated bits, for both drilling and driving, have a softer section on their barrel that is made to absorb the "shock" of an impact driver which hits hard and then backs off to hit hard again over and over. By absorbing the heavy shocks the bit itself is less likely to break in half.

I have had these bits for years — many of them are too short for me to grab for when I need them which is why half of the set is still intact (all bits dull and/or break eventually if you actually use them). If you need a set of shorter bits, these are a solid choice. Personally, I would opt for a set of longer bits if you are a once-in-a-while user of drills looking for a single set.

I had this set for a year and it's pain in the butt to take them off from it. I would not buy it second time

Yes, they're just drill bits.
