This or the Q90 from Samsung deal? That one comes with 3 years service plan and 1 year of streaming service.

Anyone know for the 85" Q80a and Q70a, what the contrast ratios are? I heard due to the size, they would have the same type panel (VA).

As far as I can tell, the "A" model looks like the newer model but it has a totally different panel. Not sure if "not as good" is correct, just different.

Edit: as Champagne13 pointed out, my previous comment based on the above Rtings link was for the 55" and not this 85" so disregard the part of my post about it being a different panel. I have no idea what I am talking about.

Yeah I looked at the viewing angles at rtings.com and then in person. No way the viewing angles ratings match. They are awful

From your link: "This TV was replaced by the Samsung Q80/Q80A QLED"

The Q80T was the 2020 model. The Q80A is the 2021 model. But with TVs, newer doesn't always mean better b/c manufacturers are always looking for ways to cut cost/increase profit margins. As much as I love Samsung TVs (I own 2, maybe 3 soon), they've been getting slightly worse each year for the past few years.

The overall performance in the Rtings review does not apply to the model in this thread. Rtings reviewed / rated the 55" version that has an ADS/IPS panel (lower contrast ratio / wider viewing angles). The 85" model in this thread has a VA panel (higher contrast ratio / narrower viewing angles). Since Rtings puts more weight on contrast ratio in rating PQ, the 85" model in this thread should perform / rate better than the Rtings review suggests.

Yes... but it does only have one HDMI 2.1 (4K@120Hz) port... if that matters to you.
