The battery life is absolutely horrible, and the power drops from 100 watts to 60 one unplugged, but beside that this speaker is unbeatable for $160 or less

Looks like a good deal if it works. Many reporting qc issues aside from just battery.

I own 2 of these from a slightly cheaper prior deal (recent) and they are amazing. I only use them in place plugged in, so the battery life issue doesn't bother me.

I have both of mine paired in stereo and the sound quality and power is impressive for the price IMO. I'm no audiophile, but they're loud and sound great. I upgraded to these from a pair of HK Onyx Mini speakers and it seems to be a quantum leap in terms of power without any sacrifice in quality / clarity.

How does this speaker compare to a Sonos Bluetooth speaker like the move?
We have both. I think both sound great, but I definitely think the HK easily wins that battle. At least that's how my wife and I hear them. She loves the HK!

HK battery life is not as good as the Move, and of course the Move gives you both WiFi and Bluetooth options and syncs up well to the Sonos ecosystem.

So if you are looking for an awesome sounding Bluetooth speaker and don't need several hours of battery life then definitely save $200+ and go for the HK.

This is an amazing speaker I have this and the Onyx 5. Let me tell you for less than $200 you will be hard pressed to find anything that sounds as good. Plugged in maxed out its enough to get complaints from your neighbors. Love mine!

How does this speaker compare to the HK Onyx 7?
I bought both the Go + Play and the Onyx 7 and had them both for about a week. In the end, I sent them both back for different reasons.

IMHO (love my AT-M50x BT for reference):
1: The Onyx 7 is a beast. The loudest and most powerful amplified bass I ever heard in a bluetooth speaker. It is LOUD. You bring it to the beach and you ARE the chiringuito. You bring it to the tailgate, the roof party or the potluck and people will turn their head and think WTF. It's amazing, from that perspective, but the bass is too amplified and too pushy. omphta, omphta, omphta if you want a portable party machine this thing is it, if you want to listen to subtle music with amazing sound it it will annoy you after 20-30 minutes and there is no way to adjust the bass level on either one of these two machines. You would expect a physical knob on the back or better yet and app with some sort of equalizer function or at least a bass/treble adjustment, nada. You feel a constant vibration in the belly and the heart. It's a Sonos 5 or whatever the big one is in more portable. Bass was unbearable for regular normal listening.

2: The Play and Go is the much better sound IMHO. It's like a Jambox Big in today's world. The best sounding BT speaker I ever listened too. Google all the various battery issues that people complain about, I found it to be very powerful on power and on battery, but it in a nice accentuated way. Clear sound with bass as the musician intended but not amplified to take over the songs. You can still be the life of the outdoor party but the sound is much better and cleaner. My wife and I loved the sound and agreed post Jambox this is the best we ever heard. I had tried Anker and the other guys as well and even though they have great reviews people apparently mostly value loud but not good sound. That said, we sent this one back as well as it is not really portable. It's huge. For our use case (used in-house for shower, cooking, taking a bath) the sound would have been amazing but it's a monster to move around and total overkill. And even this one you need to be careful with positioning. When I placed in on the top shelf in the kitchen it sounded like "in da club".

Sound wise, I would take the Go + play any day, but read about the battery complains and really think about your use case, They both are HUGE. The 7 is heavy and even a tad bigger. It is a miracle and design flaw to me that none of them have any way to adjust the sound in particular the bass level, how dumb. None of them have any water proofing / protection either. The Go could be an amazing desktop or shelf speaker if I did not already have a good setup I would have kept it maybe for that. You could pair it with your FireStick and the TV setup is done.

Return was smooth both times. First with T-Mobile when they sold the 7 for $200, and the other with HK direct. No problems whatsoever quick and easy.
