I like Norelco shavers but dislike it's choice of connector for charging. It switched to the USB charger style wall-wart plug but picked a proprietary connector instead of USB connector. When I travel, I had to pack another charger. I ended up buying a no name clone from Amazon that came with a micro-USB charging connector. Now I can charge my shaver anywhere I can charge my phone, and I don't need to pack another proprietary plug when traveling. Just something to consider if you don't like plugs galore.

I tried this from a previous best buy deal and it has been pretty useless for me except for the pop up trimmer in the back. The shaver just tugs and pulls my facial hair, it hurts, id rather just use a razor and get the occasional cut or two.

Description says it takes 8 hours to charge. I have a Philips Norelco Shaver 4100 which is discontinued but goes for around $25 on eBay and it's advertised as 1 hour to charge. After looking closely, this is not worth it

I've been more happy with the Aldi brand shavers than Norelco. Used to be Norelco was the ONLY brand I would even consider.

Last cheap Philips Norelco Shaver I bought from Best Buy with a similar deal literally died in just 5 months! I am tossing that one away and buy this one as the backup.

Could you please advise on the Aldi shavers? I didn't see them in store. Are there any links online for them? How much do they typically cost? Thanks.

But you can use this one while charging. You cannot use 4100 while charging it.

Not a fan of this shaver. Had one and the battery died, but it's soldered in and cannot be replaced.

I had my previous norelco for 10+ years and never changed the (lift n' cut) blades and it still worked ok. I lost my charging cable so instead of buying a new cable I bought this since I figured I needed new blades anyways. I did notice with this one, probably because of the new blades, my shaving time was cut to about 1/3rd of the previous clipper. The advice on the package is to change the blades after 1 year.

Some reviews says it rotates slower than previous models but I didn't notice much of a speed change from my previous one. Seems to give me as good as a cut as my previous unit so time will tell how long the unit lasts.

There are other models within the 2000 series that mostly reduce the charge time and/or increase the battery life per charge. Per charge I believe this model had around 30 minutes of charge time and it can be used while plugged in if needed. When it has about 5 minutes left it is supposed to blink at which time I'd just leave it on the charger overnight.

If you have more than a few days of stubble you probably need to knock it down with the pop up trimmer.

So yes, the charging time is slow but if you think how you'd be using it this probably isn't a big deal. I didn't want to spend more to buy something that will charge in less time since that doesn't matter to me.

Overall I'm happy with my purchase, I picked it up at target for $30, with a disclaimer that I only have shaved 2x with it and my face was already accustomed to this style of shaver.
