The included fractions are why I picked these up.

What's with all tape measures removing centimeters. They used to all be inches on one side and centimeters on the other. I often need metric depending on the project or instructions manual.

The tape itself is decent, but the belt clip is terrible. After a while clip will loose it's tension and it doesn't stay on belt anymore.

I have a bunch of tape measures lying around from when Harbor freight used to give them out for free with any purchase, enough for a DIYer like me...but DeWalt quality of course is much better for a professional I guess

Because most people like to measure on either side of the tape.

Starrett tape measures do English and Metric. They're surprisingly affordable (relative to other Starrett products).

I'm with you. I always liked having the option of using either/or. I know some people like the fractions on the tape measure but sometimes it is easier to remember 91cm instead of 35 7/8

.
When working on a project, you will be measuring from both left and right. Especially on the edges, it is a real pain if you don't have the same measurement on both sides.

Like most, there are a few of the HF tape measures laying around with both fractional and metric, but I never use them. Those are the loaner tapes.

I deal with fractions at work and actually made the company start buying these types of tape measures because my coworkers couldn't preform quality checks with standard tape measures.

It became my job to mark on tape measures where the measurements should come out prior to buying one with fractions on it and that's something no one should have to do for a bunch of adults.

Home Depot is really focused on residential home construction. Imperial is adequate for that. They pretty severely neglect anything more complex like woodworking / fab / machinist, even though they can sometimes be an expedient solution.

Just get a Komeleon cm-both-sides tape online. Cheaper than a machinist/engineer tape measure. The biggest bonus is that most people won't try to steal it.
