A personal weather station? Why would one need such a thing?
Retired people love tracking the weather - it's the one thing that still changes every day of their life

You can set up a SDR system to get the data. Basically requires the radio, a USB port, a Docker container, MQTT, and an antenna.

Weather it's worth your time or not to DIY this is a whole other issue.

How can you forget complaining about "kids these days?"

For me, I live in the country and far from any weather reporting stations. I don't care that the international airport 30 miles from me, which is on the edge of a major city, is 40 degrees outside while it is 28 at my house. Protecting outdoor plants and crops is a perfect example why that could be important to have a more localized metric. Other things like wind gusts can also dramatically change even by a few blocks or just because of the placement of a few trees. Heck, yesterday we must have gotten 3 inches of rain at my work but at my house only a light sprinkle, ground wet but not even a measurable amount. If I relied on the local weather I'd have skipped watering a few young plants.

My folks bought a lacrosse weather station for themselves, my sisters, and myself. They often sell these at Aldis for not a ton of money.

ALL BUT ONE ARE CRAP.... I have my receiver outside 2 feet away from display unit, all that separates it is the interior and exterior walls and what ever insulation is in between. CONSTANTLY looses it's signal. Both of my sister's had the same lackluster experience. Constantly have to resync by establish connection by pushing buttons on both unit and receiver, a day later it looses connection

I just use mine to know the temp. Inside my house.

Dad's is working great. He took the receivers from a sister's piece of junk and is now able to tell temp inside outside and garage by cycling through screens.

I would not recommend this company or it's products

I got one of these last year and it works great. The station is about 150 ft away from the display. There is a garage and 2 rooms between the station and the display, it never loses the signal. I don't care what the weather is 40 miles away, I need the weather in my backyard.

I won't know until I see it, but I am betting that Wi-Fi can be turned back on in the root of the system, I'll report back my findings.

Was kinda interested until I read later posts in the previous thread for the same deal. Also one assumes these are now years old even new in the box based on how long these "defective wifi" units have been going on clearance. Hard pass.
