Apology to the SD members for posting NOT a HotDeal but a Major Warning for members that purchased the Pixel 3 through SD before. Please do consider backing up and switching device ASAP or chances are that, like me, you will end up with a bricked phone overnight! Didn't expected that from GOOGLE!!!
Exactly as described in this article below, the phone starts by randomly rebooting (stuck in EDL) until it even doesn't charge anymore!!! If anyone has a solution, I'd love to find out!

I was literally about to buy a pixel 3 XL today. Is there any way around this or can it be rooted? I'm using a pixel 1 XL and it still works fine. Why is this different for the 3 XL. Can you just turn off updates or something?

I just need a new model pixel that has a fingerprint sensor and preferably a 3.5mm audio jack

Was working perfectly 13h ago with latest android all stock not rooted. Then suddenly last night started rebooting endlessly and this morning it is a Brick! Dead completely dead -doesn't take charge nor is being recognized on PC. I woke up to found out worst nightmare - phone is a brick and i lost everything on it!!! So just sharing cause i don't think other P3 would like that to happen -shame on google to brick P3 through EDL!!!!

No needs to waste your time trying the recommended uBreakiFix AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER - cause #1 they don't have the Qualcom EDL bootloader needed and #2 uBreakiFix was told by GOOGLE NOT TO FIX THE P3 as per both uBreakiFix rep i called!!!!!!

GOOGLE Should be Exposed for such practices - Bricking phones and preventing their own authorized repair centers to help P3 owners recover their phone/data IS simply unacceptable!

Bizarre, I upgraded my Pixel 3 to Android 12, keeping fingers crossed....

They'll just end up with more warranty requests if they don't fix it...

How old was it? I'm not convinced this is a software issue. I have seen scattered reports going all the way back to the OG Pixel. Seems like something relating to boot is failing whether that be the storage, the security chip, or something else. People who have caught their phones before it died have reported messaging about unable to boot before it bricks. These devices have verified boot so if anything gets corrupted, the device is instantly bricked. Sorry that it happened to you but I haven't heard of it happening to a new device yet which lends further credence to it being a hardware failure.

mine was flawless until that EDL rebooting started out of nowhere by itself! I just wanted to inform others P3s owners caused Ii know i wasn't the only one getting one! Basically you go from working phone to a brick so it's like the same nightmare scenario as if you just lost your phone but here it's the Qualcom EDL that bricked it automatically for you!! Terrible that Google leaves you hanging dry with no options than wondering if you want to entrust their products ever again!!!

No more pixel for me, use them as my personal backup since the first one came out --Terrible experience!

I was considering P6 but after what happened to my P3, it is not a question of if but when based on the huge number of Pixel owners affected across the board and globally! P3 are bricked now, how long for the other Pixel?
Lost total confidence in google Pixel reliability - check the horror stories for yourself and decide if it's worth taking the risk.

I am not technical but assuming it's a HD or software update issue, knowing the devastating effect that this has on customers -at least google could have tried to offer any upgrade with "FS" LOL :-) But no, the entire P3 customers base is being left behind w/o options -and that's why is such a disaster!

That's the crazy thing, if its truly just a SW issue they should at a minimum provide the tools for folks to flash a base ROM on it. Flashing is just point and click now. The phone is 3+ years old now.

Agree, when you have an issue affecting overnight so many customers - how can you just walk away and expect repeat business! Yes that pixel is "only" 3 years old when my Original Pixel and the P2 are still running! Just a question of how they could have dealt with this Huge Fiasco (again you lost your phone overnight to an update glitch?) in a more customer focused approach when knowing that this issue is proven to affect so many pixel users and nonetheless, Globally!!! Real SHAME GOOGLE!

Actually the concept of being able to load a P3 "custom" firmware from the like of XDA forums might be the only options - maybe worth trying looking into to at least for being ale to recover data if not a what used to be an excellent phone...thx!

My Pixel 3 is still working fine but I copied my Google Authenticator codes/accounts to another device so I don't lose it in case my Pixel 3 fails.

It's stuff like this that make me want to go Apple. Google Pixels always seem to have more serious issues.... as well as losing their value much faster.

Better to be safe than sorry! I learned my lesson with Google support for their products and most importantly - their total disregard of the existing P3x's customers base!!! Hopefully, other P3 users won't be affected but after joining the bandwagon - i must admit loosing your data AND phone overnight to no fault of yours -sucks - Like they say, buyer be aware :-)
