Seems to depend on location for some reason. I live in south jersey but was recently at lowes in north jersey and north jersey store is 299 but south jersey store is 199. Home depot 6ah and 4ah starter kit has more premium free tool options then this lowes deal. Home depot offering flexvolt advantage tools so you would think lowes would offer the power detect tools but thats not the case

Lowes tools supervisor here. Price changes work differently between HD and lowes. HD corporate puts them into effect so all store have it at the same time. Lowes drops into the system but needs to be manually activated. I like to stay on top of mine so I activate them as soon as they're pushed and have this set at 199 at my store. If you're at the store, you can ask the manager to activate it.
Also, we do have the better deal between power detect-flexvolt advantage. You buy the PD drill and XR impact kit with the 8AH and the 2AH battery along with the fast charger for 299 and you get to pick another PD tool free.

Tru i did see that deal forgot about it. Drawback is have to buy an impact and drill though which is typically the first tools ppl buy so many ppl may not want that except for the ppl just starting out. And lowes deals arent hackable. I dont need anything already have everything and just here trying to help ppl out. Seems like lowes should update there system. Manually adding lol and also because the fact that on the lowes app automatically chooses the cheapest option which is $99 light and wont let you change your free gift. Have to use desktop site. This happens EVERY time with EVERY deal.

Interestingly both systems have their upsides and down. Manually doing it means all the price tags on the shelves are accurate and ideally they get updated 5-6 times a week so it's never really an issue until your stores management is just incompetent. You gotta factor in price changes don't always mean prices going down but also up. Held the same position at HD for 3 years and had issues EVERY day when things rang up higher than the price tag. Personally like the lowes system better.
No clue about the website issue since it's outta our control.
We also have other deals on the batteries and the drill or impact kit and the free tools. Just gotta pick and choose haha

On hackable, how does this deal show up on a receipt and what happens if you try and return the batteries, any idea?

Good information, it's convenient for you but it's making online shopping sucks, I guess Home Depot/Walmart put online shopping first, and improved a lot during the pandemic , different strategy, your CEO is over rated.

The system requires to return everything. One thing will show as $0.00 and the other full price. Then if you try to return the item thats full price it jus wont go through unless the free item is returned as well. At least this is what happened when i tried it last year

I wouldnt say it only affects online shopping. In store shopping is a hassle if the deal isn't activated at the store yet. Now you need to get the manager to activate it. Assuming you get a decent manager that is willing to do it for on the spot too and not tell you it will be done in a day or two.

when you read the fine prints on the "select free tool" you'll see it's good through 05 Jan 2022. At least that will give Lowe's mgrs the time to fix the price down and give the rest of us time to select and buy in time for the holidays Stick Out Tongue

Of course, Lowe's is in a timewarp:

I ordered online for store pickup worked well that way. But no, I didn't try in store.
