Is it only available online? Or it is in store too?

We'll it's a $1200 machine. The internals are certainly made with plastic. With the exception of the boiler.

The exterior should none the less be metal at this price.
You can argue the same with high-end TVs. After all, coffee is what we enjoy not the look (not that there is anything wrong with it).

I mean I get it, but it's a countertop appliance. Even a $30 bread toaster has a metal exterior.

All I can say is it doesn't look cheap on the countertop. It may as well cost more to make than a sheet of stainless steel. Non-glossy fingerprint proof lightweight😉 May be it's designed that way

Does someone know how this compares with De'Longhi Dinamica Plus?

Any mechanical issues?
We have had our Jura for 5 years. The boiler went out last year, we paid the flat fee $350 (which included shipping both ways) and we had our device fully repaired and back in about a week. They also upgraded our frother for free when they saw we had the older style.

Hmm... I guess the premium mostly goes towards the convenience of an auto machine with different types of drinks, and not exactly because it brews nice espresso. Seems to make pretty average shots according to coffee snobs at reddit.

My other main concern would be if these are designed to be home appliances, i.e. how easy or impossible would it be to repair and replace parts yourself, and how fast do these part die (I am guessing around 5 years give or take if they design these to be home appliances that you replace within 10 years)

In the end there are pros and cons to each unit, the biggest con of the Jura's is that the brew group isn't removable/serviceable and requires tedious dismantling to service.

I don't have any experience with Saeco/Philips machines, but I've taken a part a Jura Ena Micro 5 and C65, found both on craigslist for a great deal. The C65 was running and only had to be cleaned due to lack of cleaning and mold build up, it was at a holiday home and wasn't used often.

The Micro 5 was a refurb. the couple I got from were students and abused it, the thing was quite dirty and moldy inside.
I eventually found the issue and was able to repair for about $100 bucks.

The main problem was the machine was never cleaned properly, and the brew group was never serviced since they owned it for 4-5 years.

The issues I found were:

1. Brew group was seizing up from lack of lubrication.
2. Brew group main gear was worn from the gear motor being overworked from point 1.
3. Brew group motor mount was loose and stripped adding to the problem.
4. Grinder bearings were dry, a lot of old grounds were caked to the grinder assembly.

With proper care, either machine will run great depending on how its maintained. I'd suggest anyone looking to invest in these machines to also consider if they'll be maintaining it themselves, or having a shop do it.

The best way to look at these super autos is like a car, in the end it requires maintenance and people fail to realize this, then get upset when they need to spend additional money to repair these machines.

Coffee snobs on reddit are using Grinders that cost as much as or more than this machine, at times. This price won't even get you started on "great" espresso, which is subjective anyway. If you are not looking for a hobby a semi or super is probably what you want.

The shots and espresso it makes are good. They're not going to blow away a coffee snob, but you're also not going to get that "meh" experience you do from a cheap super automatic. Every person that we have over that has our espresso creation thoroughly enjoys the coffee and comments on how good it is.
It's not going to be to the level of your perfectly ground, tamped, and scale-measured portafilter of espresso from some high-end double boiler espresso maker, but you also don't have to spend all the time prepping and cleaning. It's all give and take with the compromises of these machine. I was once big into making my own espresso, and I did the process every morning. Perhaps the level of quality isn't good enough for some, and that's fine: you can enjoy coffee with your own setup.

That being said, our Jura gives us good coffee that I am happy enough with the result and I am very happy with the ease of use and cleaning. It's dump a tablet into the slot every couple weeks, use the milk cleaner for the milk system once every couple days, and replace the water filters. All requiring minimal steps and effort.

And if you ever buy these newer ones from someone used, you can go into the maintenance screen and view the number of brewings and the number of cleaning cycles. Really helps find if you're going to be buying yourself a headache machine because they never did anything to keep it going.

I have my Jura since 2014. Not a single problem so far. Make 2-3cups espresso / coffee daily. Sometimes more. The BEST machine ever.
Somebody asked how compares to DeLonghi. Jura beats it ! My in laws had 2 De Longhis , they keep breaking every couple of years.
My Jura still standing strong. Oh and I got mine refurbished. 😅
