Can I presume this device is listening in like Alexa does? Serious question. I don't have al lot of "tech knowledge", but I've seen many reports of Amazon employees listening in through the Alexa device.

How does the google hub compare with the Alexa Show? I have a ton of Alexa devices, would this serve any useful benefit?? 🤔

It's always listening. Otherwise, how's it gonna know when you say "Hey Google!" But I don't know if it stores things for employees to review but don't think so. You still have a physical button to turn on, off the mic.

Google is better at answering random questions. Alexa is stupid for questions. If you have Nest cameras and or android TVs, it integrates well. You can control them with voice. Hey, google show me the front door etc.

Wrong. Hey google, set the temperature to 71 degrees. "Ok, setting to 71 degrees." You can also use touch control to change temp etc.

I have an original Google Home speaker (non-mini).

Does anyone know how a Nest Hub (2nd Gen) will compare purely in terms of audio quality to the Home speaker? The screen looks like a nice upgrade, but I don't want audio quality to suffer too much since we use it for that purpose extensively.

I guess $179 is the best we'll see for the Max.

We have have 5 of the Hub. Max and a few left of the smaller one. Also have 7-8 Alexa Shows, 10, 8, and 2 5's. Yeah, overkill, but I like them.

Pros and cons to each. Google is a beautiful picture frame, but the 7" is too small to be useful for us, which is why we have replaced almost all of them with the Max.

The Show's, especially the show 10, has the best sound, hands down. The Max is fine, but if you listen the the show 10 and the hub max, it's no comparison.

Alexa is better with smart home controls…if you have a lot of devices, especially if you have multiple lights in one room. As a heavy user, Google is frustrating with smart home controls.

We also have the Nest hello and multiple nest cameras so it's nice for the instant popup on the doorbell on the Nest Hubs. Alexa can show the nest cameras as well, but the nest hello is not an instant pull when the doorbell rings.

The "nest" camera on the max is fine for duo calling, and if the room is lit, but there is zero night vision, so the camera is useless for security if the room is dark. But…that's when you can have smart security set to turn on all lights at night if something happens.

We started with Minis, now we have one hub max and 3 hubs throughout our house and I can't imagine not having them. Casting videos, sports, helping with homework, playing music, games they come with, is all so fun. For you 13, 8, and 4 year old it's super helpful for all sorts of things.
