Only 7 actual multi tool blades and the case is a pack out lookalike, but not even an actual one… boo on Milwaukee

Honestly the 32 piece kit might be the better "deal". I can't even see how this one is worth $50 as a base price

Actually, I love the sander attachment - it outperforms my Milwaukee corded random orbit sander. But your point is absolutely valid, the kit seems expensive for what it is.

IMO, the only store-bought oscillating blades worth buying are the carbide blades. And those are for a just nothing else will work situation as they are hella pricey. For regular blades, just get any of the million-pack deals on amazon for 1/10th the price per blade and treat them as disposable kinda like utility blades.

They are "universal" fit and says it fits Fein. Great, then they should fit the Fein Starlock I purchased in the same aisle, right?

The Milwaukee blades don't last long, especially if you need to get through some metal (e.g. nails). I got a similar kit with just the blades and my experience matches the project farm reviews on youtube

This 10 piece has 2 carbides and 2 titaniums in it for $55. It was $45 a few weeks ago.

No case though, and I am in the boat that I like when I get a case to hold the loose objects I am buying. That 10 pack is just two 5 packs shipped to you.

As someone who just bought their first DeWalt oscillating tool, what blades should I have in hand?

I'm getting very mixed reviews on different brands. It seems it comes down to two distinct groups. Cheap junk that will be sacrificial/disposable, and more durable blades at higher cost. I'm okay with either or both approaches, but it seems there's also junk at higher cost too.

The dewalt blades are junk. So are the Rockwell. I like rhe Milwaukee blades and Bosch. They should all be compatible. I bought several of the Milwaukee sets they had last year for $30. Don't recall if they had the same contents as this kit but they didn't have the case (just a nice fabric pouch with zipper). The blades were good.
