Does this REQUIRE you to have a subscription to use it? I know it has one year free, but what about after that?
I'm not paying a subscription to use my own device.
The subscription is not required after it runs out, the largest complaint about using it without a subscription is that the resistance is a little annoying to change (up down button). With the membership, the resistance will change automatically according to the workout you choose.
Yea, nothing at this price point is comparable to the Peloton. I did a lot of research and landed on this one because of the free 1 year subscription membership (which allows for automatic variable magnetic resistance during workouts) and the ability to return the product to Costco in case something goes wrong.
If you value the membership ($180 per year) and take it out of the price, the math on the bike works out to $120 ($300 - $180 = $120).

The subscription requires a smartphone or tablet, however the bike does not require an iFIT membership to use it.

It's required for ifit, but does it limit you're actual use of the bike? Are there any programs built in? Adjustment?

They say the console needs to be activated. I don't think the bike I bought several years ago needed to be activated to work, but the rower I bought last year did need to be activated in order to work. Both use a tablet. Once it's initially activated, I think you can just cancel the subscription (it is free for a year).
It is very confusing and they need to re-word it, I think they mean that it has a large LCD display mount where you could put your tablet.
It does not come with a large display.
I don't have tablet. Can you put your phone there securely? And if you don't want to use any of that, can you just use the bike without the phone/tablet?

It has digital resistance adjustment and iFit subscription is not needed to use the bike.
I was able to sell the iFit membership for about $100 on eBay so the effective price was $200 (plus tax and eBay fees).
