Just a heads up we got a new puppy a month ago and she came with a bag of this stuff. She hated it so much that she ate around it when we mixed it with the Kirkland (Costco) brand to keep her from getting diarrhea. We had to give her pumpkin instead to help with the diarrhea because she wouldn't eat this food at all and is apparently the only food the shelter she was at was giving her. Maybe she's weird but just trying to give everyone a heads up that for some reason this 5 month old puppy HATED it. No idea why. Now it's in the trash and she's completely moved to the Kirkland.

I have 3 non picky dogs. All 3 the minute i tried American journey puked from it. I am not a pet food snob and have tried many. But this one was bad enough I ended up throwing the bag away.
I have a very picky eating dog. It's part of their breed characteristics. They are also great at controlling their food intake, so it is rare you find one that is overweight. They eat as much as they get full and stop.

He always prefer whole meat (i.e. not processed and certainly not the grounded and repackage kind). He puked up on the Wag treats.

However, he hasn't had a single problem with American Journey. He seems to even like it. I think it is the rice in it.

On the flip side, he does not like the Blue Buffalo stuff.

I appreciate you sharing, and I'm not disputing your experience. I wanted to give a positive experience as well. It seems with every food, there is some dog out there that has issues and some out there that has no issues. So it seems like it is more like a lottery and probably reflects overall how low quality dog food really is.

Quote from Kyle Pile :
My vet has advised the same thing stating that grain-free diets are linked with cardiac troubles if I remember right. i
Don't believe the BS. It's such a small sample that your dog is far more likely to get cancer from most of the food.

My suggestion is, don't feed them exclusively grain free. Mix it around. I don't stick to a particular brand, and I rotate to a new brand after every bag. Sometimes my dog doesn't like the brand/type, but overall he never gets too much of any "bad" dog food unless all of them are bad. Then we are F!

American Journey Dog Food 40% off at Chewy.

Seems like a good deal, especially if you want to avoid the infinite rinse and repeat of making new emails to get Chewy intro ship deals. This works for all users old and new, but might be limited to first time buyers of the dog food at Chewy? Seems like it would be hard to track for them like that...

Brand might not be the most premium, but my dogs eat it with minimal verbal complaints Stick Out Tongue

https://www.chewy.com/brands/amer...%20Journey

"Customers must be logged into account to view all applicable promotions. Past dog food purchasers are excluded from the offer. Limit 5 items per order, limit 1 order per customer. May not be combined with First Time Autoship discount. Valid through 11/23/2021, while supplies last. Subject to Terms."

Perfect, our dogs are down to the last few scoops of some wellness. Slim pickings on the dog food deals lately. This one looks pretty good so I'm in for 5. Extra 5% with auto ship. Thanks!

Here is a link about taurine in a dogs diet. Short story from medical pros is it is a myth.

Your link absolutely does NOT say it is a myth. Your link is in no way a medical study, just some vet's blog post who appears to be a practicing vet and not a clinician or epidemiologist.

However, here's a quote "The fact is the veterinary medical community JUST DOES NOT YET KNOW WHETHER THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN GRAIN FREE DIETS, TAURINE DEFICIENCY AND DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY. THAT'S RIGHT! WE DON'T KNOW!! There is enough suspicion for the FDA to issue a warning however, and that is significant. This is a serious disease so until we know better, pet owners that are feeding this type of food need to be informed."

The caps are in the article and not applied by me.
