Thanks! I got the last deal without noticing it was a Gen3 and has to return. This is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'd buy this, but I'm holding out for the Plus version with even faster speeds. I'm sure this is perfectly fine though.

Would this be even remotely OK for a laptop? Man, these huge heat sinks scare me.

This heatsink will not fit in a laptop. Just order the one that doesn't come with it. Either the $129.99 1TB or the $249.99 2TB.

Some motherboards come with pcie heatsinks, so check if yours does. You also don't need a powerful heatsink if you're just gaming. What really heats these drives is heavy writes for long periods of time. Not something most of us do. So a good pc that's well cooled should be enough.

I was wondering about that...who needs a heatsink with a SSD?

Should have clarified, I understand I wouldn't fit in a laptop with this offered heat sink. There are however small thin copper options which may fit some laptops (looks like this one may have something like that on it already). My point is if the manufacturer Sabrent actually provides its product which such large heat sink offer, I wonder if these are a good idea for a laptop to run heatsink less at all, especially compared to a Hynix P31 for example. I'm simply looking for the cheapest NvME w/ RAM TLC 2TB option. I also know this is GEN4 and P31 is GEN3. When I run this in a laptop, w/ GEN3, will it still over heat and throttle too much? That's what I'm trying to understand.

*update: Seeing The 2TB Hylinx for $244.99 on Amazon so going with that one...../user has left the chat.

---

"When installing any NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD directly onto a PCIe Gen4 Motherboard a Heatsink is required to dissipate the heat generated by the drive's extreme speed levels to avoid thermal throttling and maximize performance"

Although i think it still works, I believe the read speed for this drive is below the Sony recommended read speed for use with the PS5. I could be wrong though.

Do NOT get this for your ps5. It needs to be gen4 AND minimum 5500 mb/s read to be compatible

It will 100% not work with the PS5 if you get it with the heatsink tho, that thing is huge. Lol.

Actually, like the other poster said, don't get it for your PS5 at all, as it is below the 5500MB/s speed (it is listed as only getting 5,000). While benchmarks right now might show that slower speeds work with the current games, the PS5 has barely been out a year, so the games are definitely going to go up, so future-proof yourself and make sure you get a drive that is at least 5500MB/s read speed.
