I love mine. I've had them for about 5 years now and no problems. They are set on timers that turn them on and off. I also have a lutron remote that matches my lutron caseta switch so it all goes together nicely. Hue isn't cheap, but if you are already in it's ecosystem I'd definitely recommend these.

If you just want simplistic RGB with no effort, Hue is hard to beat. However, if you're in any way handy or like the DIY route, you can save THOUSANDS lighting every square inch of your life with other more sophisticated options. I'd highly recommend the YouTube channel "The Hook Up" and his series on light strips.

Take a look at Litecessory. They have solder-less connection and extension parts for Hue strips.

More functionality with hub. Such as syncing lights to music and so much more. It is well worth the hub and not use Bluetooth connectivity if you expect to buy more for other rooms

However, if you're in any way handy or like the DIY route, you can save THOUSANDS lighting every square inch of your life with other more sophisticated options. I'd highly recommend the YouTube channel "The Hook Up" and his series on light strips.

Those are the kits I was talking about. I actually started with that before I tried soldering. It was the extensions for the non Bluetooth versions with the little wires that would bite down on the pads. I'm somewhat handy and feel like I understood the concept of it all but it simply wouldn't work for me.

If you want high CRI go phillips. If you don't know what CRI is, go buy Chinese kits every 3 months when they burn out.

These are super hard to diffuse using typical diffuser channels because of the spacing of the LEDs. If you're putting them somewhere where there's no direct line of sight (like under cabinets) they're nice.

Nothing much, which I realized after spending over $1000. You cannot compare to $10 but a decent $30 strips will beat this any day in the features they offer. Remember this strip is 80" less than 8ft whereas others are 16.4ft, 32ft, 50ft, 100ft...
