Ace Hardware flyer arrived and they have some decent deals on small socket sets and wrench sets. I like to buy these types of sets for my kids for Christmas so they can build up a tool set every year. No, these are not what they used to be but they still carry a lifetime warranty. The prices shown are for Ace members -- each set is $9.99.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Metric was invented by scientists. SAE was invented by people who thought that having some pounds be twelve ounces and others sixteen was a fine idea.
SAE is Freedom and Metric is communist.
Got all the hand tools I'll need in this lifetime but repped just the same!

Now, stop and think who controlled much of the world 200 years ago? Even the Duke of Normandy that ran England was subservient to the King of France for a while. And no, Normandy is not in England. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
But where were they making the automobiles back then? And what color is the sky in your altered reality?

It was not NASA's fault. The issue was improperly translated data from a subcontractor. Lockheed Martin dispensed data to JPL without first converting to metric, and JPL mistook the data as metric given it was standard practice that data given to NASA be given in metric. NASA made no error. Mistakes happen, even in metric only engineering houses. Lockheed also gave us the F-16, the first stealth aircraft, and the F-22 so let's cut them some slack.
.
That was 20 years ago and it was a supplier issue... It was also NASA's fault because they were lax in quality control and not the first or last time with items as simplistic as a faulty O ring gasket with the Challenger disaster. It is just f stupid to claim metric vs fractional was the issue, but exactly what the dimwit by agenda Lorelle Young tried to claim in the attempt to hustle a few more $Billion out of the taxpayer.... and failed. There is no slack required, as mistakes happen and people, those responsible, need to own up to the why to not repeat.

A bit off topic, the F22 was a great plane with outdated avionics before the first one rolled off the assembly line. Politics and profiteering that China and Russia enjoy watching, while there is very little that China does not already have for the F22, 35, etc., by stealing or buying.

LOL there is no such thing as too many tools! i find it cheaper to buy sets like this than to replace lost pieces individually, like that wandering 10mm socket! - and the ratchets are worth more than the price of the sets based on a quick look at their prices (even though they aren't an exact match to the ones in the set)

I have an unopened 200+ piece husky AND kobalt set - and craftsman pieces ALL OVER my garage so i kinda know what you mean, but still - a couple of these sets might wind up being delivered to the house! :-/
lol what's the point of having all those tools?

All I need is 10 more 10mm sockets, then I'll be set for the winter!

Lockheed's inept corruption also led to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and they didn't "give" us anything. They've been gobbling down taxpayer money by the trillions, thanks to the corporate welfare that is the military-industrial complex.

Just a heads up, I ordered one of each set and I received a black cased 1/4" SAE set when it was delivered. The red boxes of the socket sets are made in Taiwan and the black boxes are made in China.

I think it is possible if a Craftsman ratchet malfunctions one can bring it in for a replacement for free?

I did it at Sears when they were alive but where do we go now? I asked Lowes and it seems a little more complicated.

It's kinda been decided. All new cars, including American cars, use metric parts.
