Been researching fitness trackers to replace my Charge 3. Sense has bad/mixed reviews and Fitbit has had quality issues with every tracker I've bought over the years.
I have heard great things about Garmin products and my research convinced me to buy this one over Charge/Versa/Sense. I didn't want a big, round watch but there's some great Garmin round watches too (Vivoactive 4 and Venu were on my shortlist).
Plus I don't want to pay Fitbit a monthly subscription to get access to my own advanced fitness data. Garmin makes it all available for free - that's the way it should be.
Apple watch is fully blown smartwatch, essentially your iPhone on the wrist. Yes, it has basic fitness tracking functionality, but that's exactly what it is: basic.
Garmin is first and foremost fitness tracker, designed and optimized for this purpose. Yes, it has some basic smartwatch functionality, but it it's a few very basic things.
Don't get me wrong: both are great products, they are just designed for different purposes.

GREAT deal, but look and buy elsewhere if you can (yet this deal seems to have initiated the price-matches, so maybe if not in a rush, give this post link credit?). It's like a 5 star and 1 star at the same time...so I'm just not gonna rate and choose to be patient as buydig sends my watch.

I've had my Garmin Vivoactive for 3 years.
Never a problem, tracks all my workouts, connects to my heart rate monitor strap via bluetooth, connects to my Galaxy S21 Ultra via bluetooth, battery lasts for 1 week and GPS is built in, basic notifications of phone calls and texts... and this is a 3 year old watch.
Definitely going to buy another Garmin watch soon, maybe even this one.
I personally think Garmin Instinct fit me well and here are my pro-cons :
Instinct :
+ more rugged use and expected to live longer than Venu for a rough usage
+ more battery life
+ more masculine looks
+ has ultratrac for hiking in the woods
- black and white
- can't be used on formal occasions
Venu Sq :
+ better design, can be used for formal occasions
+ cheaper
+ newer (released in 2020 vs instinct in 2018)
+ has VO2 max reading
- doesn't seem as robust
- less battery life

If you want the most accurate wrist HRM, you're going to want one of the watches with the new Elevate V4 sensor though, and at the moment that's only the Venu 2 and the 945 LTE. These ones have the older version which is a bit less accurate but still pretty OK.
