Not going to get into disc vs. digital (discs 4 lyfe, yo).. but consider that the "HD" digital codes (from blu-ray versions) of the following will redeem in 4K on iTunes!

Bookmark this spreadsheet [google.com], which keeps a running tab of which HD codes redeem in 4K.

- Back To The Future (1-3, only via individual codes)
- Bourne Identity / Supremacy / Ultimatum / Legacy
- Jason Bourne**
- Cornetto Trilogy Shaun / Hot Fuzz / World's End] (only via individual codes)
- The Mummy (1-3, only via individual codes)
- Jurassic Park (1-4, only via individual codes)
- The Fast & The Furious (First 4 movies, only via individual codes)
- Despicable Me (1-3, only via individual codes)

**.. was awful.

Got BTTF and Mummy trilogies. I'd love to own the Bourne set but reviews for those are terrible

I have the Bourne set in 4k. What is supposedly terrible? Thing to remember about AV reviews are that they are a deeply personal thing. I see review sites contradict each other all the time.

Are the Bourne reference quality? No, but I don't think that was ever their intention. Are they still totally awesome? I think so. I had the first four on DVD. I would say these are what I typically expect from reissues in AV. Nothing super fancy, but nothing I'd boohoo. The only person that can decide if they are worth an upgrade from bluray is you. If you have on DVD, I mean... yeah, that's a no brainer. And if you don't have at all, well do you actually want them to watch or for a rainy day? Chances are next Black Friday they could be even cheaper (or they stop printing and they surge in cost)

Code works on regular blu-rays too. Just picked up the regular blu-ray of Jurassic Park collection for $24 + tax. Good deal, thanks OP.

Oof Jurassic world 3 coming out next summer makes this a big no for me.
It'll be good for a Christmas present for a Jurassic Park fan this year.

Also picked up Inglorious Basterds 4K for $16. Given that it just came out, I don't see it going for cheaper than $16 anytime soon and it's one of my favorite movies.

So you have the right mindset. It will be better than the DVDs because of the resolution increase.

But when you compare it to the standard Blu-ray, its a little disappointing.

First since the movie was finished at a 2K resolution, it's not true 4K so it's upscaled.

Then the big detriment of these movies was the first movie and it's color. It's looks very grey and dreary. You can easily compare scenes from each release and it shows.

Now Supremacy and Ultimatum fare better and the sound is mixed to an improved DTS:X.

TLDR: Just get it if you like the Bourne Movies and there's a deal

I disagree that the upscale matters. There are plenty of good looking movies shot in native 4k vs upscaled 2k. There are also plenty of bad movies shot natively in 4k vs upscaled to 2k. 4k vs 2k is merely a pixel count. A quality camera > pixel count. I'm not into camera quality, but I do know I typically see review sites commenting on why something looks so good and camera names attached.

Also, who in their right mind watches a movie for enjoyment with the 4k and bluray side by side? Now if you are specifically trying to gauge the differences, sure, but that isn't pleasurable movie watching - that's work.

I don't know. It's the same thing with audio. I did two Atmos demos at Best Buy as well as watching Spiderman Homecoming with Atmos in theater. Not at all impressed. Took a flyer though when I got my equipment knowing I could return it. Such an improvement. Now if you look at spec sheets, my equipment is significantly inferior, yet sounds several times better to my ears. AV is personal.

Can't change my mind. They changed coloring? If that was a good, bad, or neutral thing is 100% personal preference. And yes, even when 99% of people agree, it's still an opinion and there will be someone that prefers what others don't. Just part of being human.
