Capital One is launching its first-ever premium travel credit card, Venture X

Here are the initial card details of the Venture X card:

Welcome bonus: The Venture X will launch with an offer of 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on purchases in the first six months, and for a limited time, cardholders can also get up to $200 in statement credits for vacation rental purchases like Airbnb and Vrbo charged to their account within the first year.

Earning: The Venture X will earn 10 miles per dollar on hotels and car rentals booked via Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights booked via Capital One Travel and an unlimited 2 miles per dollar on everything else.

Statement credit: Up to $300 back in statement credit annually for bookings made through Capital One Travel.

Anniversary bonus: 10,000 bonus miles every account anniversary, starting on your first anniversary (worth $100 toward travel).

Lounge access: Complimentary access for cardholders, authorized users and up to two guests per visit to Capital One Lounges and to more than 1,300 Priority Pass lounges worldwide.

Authorized users: Up to four authorized users can be added at no charge, and AUs get Capital One Lounge access with up to two guests.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: Up to $100 in statement credits for either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.

Annual fee:
$395.

Application link: https://www.capitalone.com/credit...venture-x/

This looks like a great card for travel compared to Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum. Especially I like the lower annual fee part and the sign up bonus also looks generous.

I used a CapitalOne pre-approval tool to see if I'm pre-approved for any of their cards. My chances of approval seems to be slim as I got this message with pre-approval ..."We reviewed your information and, unfortunately, we can't pre-approve you for a Capital One® consumer credit card at this time.". Wondering what do they check? I have capital one savings account and no other capital one cards. have excellent credit score and history

I'm new to the travel scene. Are there other resources you can recommend for me to learn how to maximize these benefits?
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ is a great resource for bank/credit card signup deals - the proprietors don't post affiliate links and are good at sharing the best possible offers for its readers, rather than whatever offers pay the largest kickback.

One Mile At a Time isn't perfect by any means, but has done a better job than TPG of not being totally hackish. View from the Wing is love it or hate it, but the site's most recently updated points valuation [viewfromthewing.com] is well worth a read for the basic explanation of value as well as a more realistic set of points/miles valuations (imo) than TPG or OMAaT.

Milesfeed (https://www.milesfeed.com/) is actually a really useful aggregation that includes several other travel/points related sites in addition to those mentioned above.

Approved for $20k

Checked the C1 prequalified website ahead of applying and it basically showed I qualified for all their cards.

Note VX won't show on the prequalified site.

I already had a Quicksilver One for over 10 years with just $1,750 CL and a C1 Checking that I opened a few months ago for their sign up bonus.

I recently product changed my CSP to Freedom Flex Unlimited. So this will be my travel card

We're you able to get the welcome bonus even if you had another capital one card?

Hi there,

I've been in travel credit card scene for so many years, and I can tell you that this type of offer doesn't come often. In fact, Chase Sapphire only had this type of offer when it was first introduced.

I'd apply for this card even when you only plan to travel once in the next 12 months, especially overseas.

The crazy thing about this card is the generosity of the lounge access where authorized users can have their own lounge pass with no additional fee. If you travel outside the US, you can see how much better the airport lounges are. In the US, only a handful of airports have good lounges.

Additionally, this card also offers primary collision coverage for rental cars, which means your insurance company won't be involved when you have an accident. I once had an accident where the car was totaled - and the credit card (Sapphire at the time) picked up the entire tab.

PM me if anyone has any more questions on this.

Happy traveling (hopefully soon).

Pretty sure you can buy, then return and you would still accrue for this sign on bonus. They don't take away from your spending for returns.

I would love to know if this is true as I can spend some of the 10k but not all of it but if I could do a purchase and return later for about 1/2 I would get this card for sure as we are travelling some next year for sure.

I canceled my CSR recently bc of the annual fee. Applied for the TY Premier and got rejected (810 credit score, low credit utilization - seems others are in a similar boat). I think I'll apply for this one. My first Capital One, actually.

Thanks for sharing, OP.
Going to cancel my CSR right before hit with $550 renewal fee in late Feb. Chase did waive my $450 fee last year right before they increased it to $550.

I have a credit score of 797 and got approved within a few seconds for $30k spend and got the physical metal card in only 2 days by FedEx.

Great points!

I had 3 rental car accidents covered without a fuss and no cost to me since 2018:

1. Month old E-class wagon in Germany with 1 side dented/scratched for damage totalling $23k. Hertz Germany banned me as I also got 2 speeding tickets. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
2. New tire and front left wheel due to hitting curbs while driving left-hand side on Audi A6 in Ireland
3. Rear corner bumper crushed from hitting gas station barrier on year-old Nissan Maxima

Those with a CSR, what is the best chase card to downgrade to and still keep your ultimate rewards?
