If this works for you, more power to you. All I'm saying is with this amount, your body will be used to thinking this is what it will constantly have. Thus making the body not produce that much natural melatonin which makes you more reliant on the bottle. Just my 2 cents.
As a sleep therapist, 10 mg is quite a large amount.
As a sleep enthusiast, 10mg does the trick especially with quick release caps.

With all the talk of dependency... has anyone tried this as a once-per-week sleep booster i.e. Sunday night only?
Been using THC gummies once a week in this manner to ensure that a bit of weekend slippage doesn't prevent rested 5am Monday wakeups, but that feels like overkill.
Melatonin is supposed to be manufactured by the natural body through contact of skin and eyes with natural light that is now subject to interference from electrosmog.
When you take this endogenous substance artificially, it breaks the mechanism of natural production.
Melatonin is more than a sleep hormone it regulates the entire cell cycle in the mitochondria, with information for repair and disposal of those cells beyond repair (preventing cancer).

The proven dosage of melatonin is only 250mcg to 1mg. The only reason there is high dose melatonin (ie: >1mg) on the market is because the low dose formula was covered by a patent. The supplement industry figured out they could get around the patent by substantially increasing the dose.
This is true. This is why there are crazy dosages above what is necessary. In addition. The mit patient holders assumed the fda would regulate it as a hormone but they decided to treat it like a supplement. Havinga said all that melatonin has certain cancer benefits tested at 20mg taken at night. Don't take it during the day. That causes cancers to grow. Melatonin is more of a repair signaling hormone than a sleep hormone. 300mcg or .3mg is all you need for sleep. At higher doses the benefit falls off
You may want to get melatonin levels checked before starting a supplement routine. You can self order lab work and save the $.
How do you "Self order" lab work. Seriously, I'm trying to track my selenium and my endo will not request selenium lab work and Quest won't do the test without a Dr order. When my wife asked her GP to add selenium to the lab work she also refused saying she would not know what to do with the results. So, I think this is a liability issue for them. If they they order a test and don't take action on the results perhaps they could be faulted for not addressing an issue exposed by the order they placed for the lab work. Anyway, if you could elaborate on how to self order D3, Selenium, etc. I would really appreciate it.

How much is the body naturally make? A weighted blanket or something on your legs will work also if you don't want to do the Melatonin.
