After some research, the differences are:
- UP8770 has a7 Gen4 processor vs Gen3 on UN9070
- UP is 2021 line and UN is 2020 line
- UP8770 has TruMotion 240 and UN9070 does not
- UP8770 has thinner borders and overall width
- UP8770 has lower weight
I think the number of HDMI 2.1 ports are the same between these two. Costco's website has some errors. The differences are definitely worth ~$60 additional cost to me.
I was convinced I wanted a QLED or OLED until I watched videos and saw the TVs in person. Then I realized that I just love a big screen. I find it terrific for sports, gaming immersion, and movies. But that's me.
Most of us going for TVs like this can't tell much of a difference between TVs like this one and better TVs or we don't care enough to shell out for the better ones. But we care enough about size to spend the extra for this size - we could get a 75" for far less with a better picture.
The Sony is better and more expensive. Do you want features such as FALD in an 85" TV? Then Sony is the way to go and probably worth the extra $550 or more. If you barely notice the difference between these TVs or don't find the difference significant enough (as I do) then the LG is a much better value.

Do you guys recommend refusing delivery or accepting and filing a return? And then ordering this one?

For me the other factor was (since I wasn't planning to wall mount it) the stand width. UP8770 has it at 60.3" (decent) as opposed to UN9070 at 70.2" (try finding a TV stand wider than that)
you are correct, I am not too sure about the specs on the Costco's website. I downloaded and compared the spec sheets for both. It seems from the spec sheets UP8770 is a little heavier.
The other thing I learnt from the spec sheet was that UP8770 seems to have only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports (indicated in the spec sheet by "Latest HDMI (4K@ 120Hz) HDMI3,4"
The absence of the "Latest HDMI ......." in the UN9070 spec sheet makes me think whether UN9070 has any HDMI 2.1 ports (Costco.com says all 4 are HDMI 2.1 but I don't know whether to believe it now)
Any recommendations for wall mount please.
