Actually, the best pyrex you can get is PYREX, not pYREX. If the p in pyrex is lower case (goes below the line of the other letters), it is modern soda lime glass. If it is capitalized like the others (does not go below the line of the other letters) it is original borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is much more resistant to thermal expansion/contraction cracking. Pyrex was reformulated to save money, and when they did they had to change the logo as it is a different product.
You want all capital letter pyrex. It will last a lifetime.
* Old corningware was also different. It has all smooth edges unlike modern corningware that is glorified stoneware, and has gritty ceramic kiln edges on the bottom where it sat in the kiln. The original was a proprietary ceramic originally designed for the nose cones of ballistic missiles, which will NEVER crack from changes in temperature. You can watch youtube videos of how incredible it is. You can take it from ice and hit it with a torch and it won't crack.
The only issue I've had with these is the lid edges crack in a short amount of time even when washed on the top rack of the dishwasher. Replaceable lids cost as much as the set itself.
I agree. I have a set of Anchor Hocking and a set of Pyrex containers and can attest to the fact that Anchor Hocking makes terrible lids. They crack and break in no time (doesn't matter if you hand wash). Save your money and by Pyrex. Pyrex costs more but is well worth it. (Macy's often has Pyrex on sale)

My Pyrex lids are just as bad. I've already purchased replacement lids once. The glassware definitely outlasts the lids.
I did manage to add the 15% and local pickup for $5 off. Don't be stupid like me and use a knife to cut out the rebate, the lid is at the bottom with no padding and will get cut. Given that the lid is not durable, I'm sure it will fail sooner. Hate this outdated rebate method...

I had 2 Pyrex big ones, lids also cracked.
I am contradicting you that Pyrex is best. worth the extra cost. Containers were worth it as good for heating in Oven or Microwave but Lids, same story.
Anyone with info. where can buy lids.

You can find a few diff pyrex lids on Amazon. I now dont yank the lid as hard.

With plastic in general it's best to hand wash and not put in the dishwasher. They will last a lot longer. Plastic doesn't like heat.
