Home Depot and most other big box stores have cut the price of the popular 27 inch WashTower Laundry Center [homedepot.com] (4.5 cu. ft. Front Load Washer and 7.4 cu. ft. Electric Dryer) for a low $1598.00, please note, backordered at HD until Thursday Dec 2 as of posting.

Other colors, gas powered dryer combinations and 'premium' models with a few more bells and whistles also available, some in stock. Below are the graphite steel and higher end 'black steel' models (a couple additional features, see spec sheet). The studio series is low stock and the gas unit is on backorder depending on the retailer.

The higher end units have gone sub 2,000 several times over the past year from Sam's, Costco, BB and the other big boxes. This is the lowest I recall some of the higher end units, but I haven't been tracking them long. Personally hoping to grab one of these from HD.

Some of these units are also available in white, stock and availability may vary.

Home DepotBuying additional LG products may entitle you for product rebates via the LG black Friday appliance bundle savings. Check product page for more details.

Edit: other retailers may provide better delivery options for your location, Costco often provides delivery and basic installation included:
Additional rebates may be available in your location, you can search via the energystar.gov portal [energystar.gov].

FYI Home Depot gas installation and haul away for studio model is $420. Too bad Costco does not carry studio model.

I like the larger size of the studio model but is that the main draw for you? Just curious

edit: Also not surprised about the crazy haul off / gas install fees. That's some of the hardest labor to find right now and all install services I've had are about a 25% success rate (either the appliance is damaged or the crew does it incorrectly). It's probably best to get your plumber to come out for that much, but the gas hookup kits are pretty simple, and you'll definitely end up with a higher quality hookup if you select one yourself.

These are regular "sale" prices, nothing amazing. It's what I paid for the "200" model last summer. However, it's fantastic all-in-one unit if you live in a TH or condo with a tiny W/D closet. From my research this is the only true full size of it's kind. There are stackable units but you have to be the Jolly Green Giant to reach the dryer controls once stacked. I was tempted to get the Studio but I saw conflicting info regarding the depth of that model and didn't want to chance it as the 200 model was already at max depth for me.

Also do a little research on rebates by local utilities. I bought mine at BestBuy and there was no mention of a local rebate but I noticed Home Depot did post the info. I ended up with a $150 rebate from my local power company + $35 in BB rewards.

Gas cost more to install because it requires a licensed plumber by code whereas anyone can install the electric version.

thanks! I've just been in the market for one, I don't see them going lower given current economics, I'm leaning towards the same unit you got.

For Costco, you'll need to login, then input your zip code. It seems like most zip codes I've tried, including mine, offer free installation and haulaway. More information can be found here [costco.com]. On the confirmation page this is what was stated as included in the cost (i.e., there was no extra fee for install and delivery):
  1. Included Services
  • Delivery of all Appliances
  • Basic Installation of Electric Appliances
  • Gas Hookup
  • Haul away included for all appliances that are installed. Items with a second appointment for install will receive haul away during their installation. In the event an item does not include installation, the member must uninstall the old appliance prior to the delivery in order to receive haul away. (Built-ins when uninstalled by member)
  • Important Information
    • Propane: Delivery and/or installatation teams are not able to hook products up to propane connections due to safety reasons.
    • If modifications or code upgrades are required, member can arrange independently with a 3rd party of their choice.
For LG, I called to verify that the cost included installation and delivery. The rep confirmed that it did. I would advise you do the same after entering your delivery zip code. I reached out to an 800 number on this page [lg.com] to verify the policy and details.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. Repped. An existing W/D is not considered a built-in and should be covered, right (they will uninstall and haul away)?

That's right, as long your area offers the haul away service which is determined by the zip code, then they would uninstall. The "built-in" part of their policy would mean if you had some sort of custom installed W/D (like in some of their product photos, where the unit is tucked in a wall or built into a closet, etc) that required modifying parts of your home unrelated to simply pulling out your old unit and connecting the new W/D.

In my case, I do have a simple countertop that goes over my current side loading units, but they can be pulled out with no problem and the hoses and gas hookup are easily accessible behind the W/D. I think that's the important thing, and of course making sure the new appliance will fit in your designated location.

You could get clarity if you have a specific situation, their phone support is open until 7pm Pacific for order related questions here [costco.com].

I have not seen that they don't install on 2nd floor, but most deliveries I've received will go up 3 stairs or something like that (if it's 'white glove'). The live chat options and phone support with Costco were really great when making my purchase so I would advise sending them a note or calling (hours of operation are in pacific time, see customer support site here [costco.com]).

edit: I often tip the delivery and install folks, most I've encountered won't turn down the cash and you end up with a completed job. But keep in mind this unit is not intended to separate, is quite tall, and is over 300lbs.

thanks! after checking them out in a couple stores both wife (5'4") and I (6') could easily access both top and bottom drums with none of the pedestal nonsense. That, the reviews and space savings did it for us.
