I take issue with your statement 'very light duty drill', I've used a similar model for anything you might have used a drill for and it has performed well for over 10 years. Any homeowner (not just the ladies) can utilize this for 99% of the jobs required.

I don't understand your comment. The Black & Decker 20V Max is probably the most popular battery of all the ones you posted. I have a back-pack sprayer, a chain saw, a pole saw, a blower, a sawsall type saw, a circular saw, a weed wacker and and a flashlight that all use this battery. And that is what makes this a great price. The batteries are ~$22 to $40 depending on when and where you buy them.

Bought one like 10 years ago, still does what it needs to do. Actually use the clutch capability a lot when putting together furniture. Used mostly for jobs around the house, not a contractor. Always tempted to buy a new one but there's not really a good reason for it.

Your first point is moot as most larger drill bits (as you'd buy in a homeowner's set) drop to a 3/8" chuck shaft. I said this is for the average home owner, not any of the spec freaks. I sell and use Ryobi (about 5 different tools) and it's a good brand, but no deal you've posted beats this for a new tool.

Would you recommend skipping this one? I don't own any tools and just purchased my first home.
As a homeowner and tool seller, I have a 10 year old version of this and I have beaten the bejeezus out of it and it's done everything I've wanted it to. If you just want a homeowner cordless drill this deal and tool can't be beat!

I own many drill bits and accessories that DON'T drop down to 3/8". Part of the reason a drill only comes with a 3/8" chuck is because the motor in it couldn't handle larger bits anyway.

Just recently I was drilling into a stainless steel sink . This drill wouldn't have cut it. The holesaw wouldn't would fit into the chuck and the motor doesn't have enough torque or speed to drill the hole.

It's this.

BLACK+DECKER 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Matrix Drill/Driver with Battery 1.5Ah and Charger
https://www.homedepot.com/p/BLACK.../205845617
SKU# 205845617

It's only handy if you plan to get the accessories as it's a space saver. I have the impact, circular saw and jig saw and have made good use of them all. I also have the blowerm. I got mine six seven years ago. I've since recently begun getting Ryobi as I want to expand beyond what Black & Decker offers.

Amazon is the best place to look.

I bought a 12v B+D drill in 2014 and it's still going strong. Use it every other month and the battery seems to last a year before it needs charging

Definitely a good deal if you want a drill. If you were looking to get a bunch of things that all use that same battery though I might stay away. Stanley owns B&D, Porter Cable, and Craftsman, and they all seem to target the same market. Craftsman seems to be where Stanly is focusing this segment. And now that Walmart seems to have switched away from B&D to HART, Porter Cable is sort of an exclusive to Tractor supply, and lowes (which at times has/had all 3) seems to only really have craftsman, I suspect B&D might fade away... I could be wrong... I'm just saying, don't buy the drill thinking you'll buy a tool only leaf blower in the summer that uses the same battery.
Porter cable is in tons of stores of stores. Costco always carries multiple power tools sets. Also black and decker isn't going anywhere. Thats their budget line and they sell tons of them on amazon, walmart, kroger brand stores, etc. Seems like you are kind of just rambling nonsense.

Ended up getting this for $1.99 two years ago during Lowes Google Home fiasco. It's a handy little drill to keep around the house. Battery packs plenty of power for small projects.

The Ryobi deal for $26 drill, battery and charger was a better option IMHO. I have black and decker, dewalt, Ryobi and Milwaukee. I'd take Ryobi over black and decker any day. Black and decker works but Ryobi is better built with far more options for expansion.
Do u have the link for Ryobi $26 deal?
