Steam oven is a little gimmicky, I fell for it with the $400 Sharp at half price. Made for a really expensive toaster oven at 200 bucks. The steam is nice I guess, hardly notice it.
I can see it being useful for some breads but you probably wouldn't make a bread in there.

I've got the Cuisinart steam oven that has been discontinued. It's one of our best kitchen purchases ever. We turned our microwave into another drawer for storage because of it. Nothing reheats leftovers like a steam oven. It's not a gimmick, it's just something you need to know how to use, why to use it, and when to use it.

Eh, I would get the cuisinart 260n1 next time it's $200 over this for $500

What can you not cook well in the cuisinart that this $500 countertop oven can do so much better?

It's also really big, almost 2" longer, 2.5" deeper, 2.5" taller than the already large 260n1. Make sure you have the space for this

They often send 10~15% coupons via email that worked with the oven, so I would wait actual Black Friday deal that might offer better deal.
Given their return policy I doubt they would offer a better deal at Black Friday, it would just be an invitation to return the one you get now.

As you said they always had 15% coupon via email, but they removed it now and made this deal which is exactly same.

use a pressure cooker, and/or mist your food with water - you get the same results.

every few years they come out with some new cooking marketing gimmick
20 years ago it was infrared, 10 years ago it's air fry - both same thing, etc.

Combi ovens have been used in the commercial setting for a very long time. Not really a gimmick. This is one of the first that's properly scaled for a home kitchen. As far as air fry, yes, it's just rebranding of convection for the lay person (and is more mass-appealing since it relates to "fried food".)

You have zero control of the humidity with your pressure cooker. Is this for everyone? No. For those that sous vide, regularly? Definitely.

Air frying def gives it's own unique results and time investment, and my infrared grill is excellent. I don't know about steam cooking, but you are wrong on the others.

Tempting. Buy now or wait for Black Friday?

Honestly - how much more can it dip between now and Black Friday? With chip shortage and all that - is this really likely to dip? How easy is it to get a 15% coupon?
The 15% coupon isn't there anymore it looks like, I had just bought mine 3 weeks ago as well with the coupon and saw this deal but then realized it is exactly same as before.

As I replied to someone else before they have a 100 day free return shipping policy for any reason, so it is unlikely they they would offer a better deal just when people would be getting their ovens delivered.

They used FedEx for mine and as with every other FedEx delivery it was slooooow. I wouldn't be surprised if these orders aren't delivered before Black Friday.

I've had one since they first came out, and use it for pretty much everything - baking, reheating leftovers, roasting. The steam works great for keeping food from drying out and helps cook more quickly than dry heat alone.

If the price goes a little lower on BF I may pick up a second one.Smilie

There's no cuisinart or sharp even comes close to this anova. This company made only 1 device and that was the anova sous vide and they shook the world and made the company worth $250 million just for that one device. Everyone else of course copied that sous vide device and made one as well but Anova was truly the innovator for home cooking with sous vide.

Anova took their game to the next level and made this oven. You're welcome for the research.

A microwave is about the fastest option for heating up soups, frozen stuff. Not really replaceable in convenience aspect.

A convection oven will do a better job on a lot of things. I often preheat in microwave and finish in countertop oven for best results

Considering their qc issues with their sous vide products and terrible warranty, I'd be hard-pressed to buy something from them that's $500.

I have the sous vide from years ago when they first introduced the wifi model and it's great. Used a lot in the summer and still no issues. Great for BBQs and making "nicer" meals for family and friends. This is a really cool tool in the kitchen but not sure I'm at the $500 "gadget" level of home cook yet.
